Our next WSJM Sports Player of the Week is Ava Mullen of Lakeshore Softball. Ava is a senior at Lakeshore High School and has a 3.2 GPA. Ava and the rest of the Lancers played in 6 games in a period of 48 hours last Thursday, Friday and Saturday, winning all six of those games. A 3-2 and an 8-3 8 inning win over Gull Lake on Thursday, a 1-0 win over LaPorte on Friday and then at the Lakeshore Round Robin on Saturday, the Lancers defeated Division #1 Top Ranked Allen Park 1-0, defeated Division 2 #6 Hudsonville Unity Christian 10-0 and then defeated Coldwater 8-0. During those six game Ava pitched in four of them. In those four games she combined to throw 21 innings of shutout baseball, she did not allow a run, either earned our unearned. Only allowed 7 hits while striking out 29 and walking 11. We caught up with her on Thursday afternoon before Lakeshore’s SMAC-West doubleheader against Mattawan.
