Penn State 75, (6) Michigan 69 – Stevens’ double-double leads Penn State over No. 6 Michigan
Lamar Stevens scored 15 of his 26 points in the first half and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Penn State to an upset No. 6 Michigan 75-69 on Tuesday night. Penn State pulled away in the first half as its star heated up and Michigan played the second without its coach.  Michigan coach John Beilein received back-to-back technical fouls and was ejected for arguing with officials as the teams entered the locker rooms after the first half. The usually mild-mannered Beilein appeared to be upset after Penn State guard Jamari Wheeler barreled over Zavier Simpson to free up Rasir Bolton’s buzzer-beating layup. Beilein needed to be calmed down by assistants DeAndre Haynes and Saddi Washington as he approached the scorer’s table to argue, then again after he was assessed another violation as he was walking away. Washington assumed head coaching duties in the second half. Myles Dread chipped in 17 points, hitting five 3-pointers, for the Nittany Lions (9-15, 2-11 Big Ten). The win snapped Penn State’s eight-game skid against Michigan. Charles Matthews scored 24 points and Jordan Poole added 17 for the Wolverines (22-3, 11-3) who never led after the first 2:24.  Michigan pulled within four on Jordan Poole’s 3-pointer with 18 seconds left, but Stevens went 2-for-4 from the free throw line to keep the game out of reach.

(11) Michigan State 67, (20) Wisconsin 59 – Winston outduels Happ in Michigan State win
Cassius Winston scored 23 points to help No. 11 Michigan State beat 20th-ranked Wisconsin 67-59 on Tuesday night. In doing so, the Michigan State (20-5, 11-3 Big Ten) star outdueled Wisconsin’s Ethan Happ, who scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. At times, the game seemed like a contest between the two heavyweights as Winston seemed to answer every Happ hook shot with a floater or 3-pointer. But Wisconsin (17-7, 9-4) staggered at home, going more than five minutes without a point as the Spartans put the game away. The game was still in doubt with 32 seconds to go before Kenny Goins hit a 3-pointer to give the Spartans a 62-56 lead. Wisconsin was then forced to foul, and Brad Davison finally broke the Badgers’ scoreless streak making a 3-pointer with 10 seconds left. Goins and Nick Ward each added 12 points for the Spartans, while Wisconsin’s Nate Reuvers was the only other player in double figures for scoring at 11.

Western Michigan 76, Northern Illinois 74 – Dugan scores 26 to lead W. Michigan past N. Illinois 76-74

Michael Flowers had 14 points for Western Michigan (7-17, 1-10 Mid-American Conference). Jared Printy added 13 points. Kawanise Wilkins had nine rebounds for the home team. Eugene German had 29 points and seven rebounds for the Huskies (12-13, 5-7), whose losing streak reached four games.

Bowling Green 79, Central Michigan 72 – Frye carries Bowling Green past Central Michigan 79-72
Dylan Frye scored 23 points as Bowling Green topped Central Michigan 79-72 on Tuesday night. Justin Turner added 20 points for the Falcons (17-7, 9-2 Mid-American Conference). Shawn Roundtree had 20 points for the Chippewas (16-8, 5-6). David DiLeo added 15 points.

Eastern Michigan 66, Ohio 57 – Thompson IV leads Eastern Michigan past Ohio 66-57
James Thompson IV tallied 18 points and 15 rebounds to lead Eastern Michigan to a 66-57 win over Ohio on Tuesday night. Elijah Minnie had 19 points for Eastern Michigan (11-13, 5-6 Mid-American Jason Carter had 18 points for the Bobcats (11-12, 3-8), whose losing streak reached four games.

NFL – Raiders have talks about returning to Coliseum for 2019
The Raiders have had their first talks about returning for one final season in Oakland since the city filed suit over the team’s planned move to Las Vegas. Oakland Coliseum executive director Scott McKibben said Tuesday that he met with Raiders president Marc Badain last week about a lease for 2019. McKibben called the meeting “meaningful and productive” but gave no other details. The two sides had been discussing a $7.5 million lease for 2019 until the Raiders walked away from negotiations when Oakland sued the team and the NFL in December. The Raiders have no lease for 2019, their final season before moving into a new $1.8 billion, 65,000-seat stadium in Las Vegas. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has said the team needs to make a decision soon so the league can make a schedule. The Raiders had talks about sharing a stadium with the San Francisco Giants, but that was opposed by the 49ers. The Raiders also could look into sharing Levi’s Stadium with the 49ers, although owner Mark Davis has been opposed to that option. The Raiders didn’t respond to a request for comment.

NFL – AP Source: Antonio Brown asks Steelers for trade
Antonio Brown wants out of Pittsburgh. A person with knowledge of the situation tells The Associated Press the perennial Pro Bowl wide receiver has asked the Steelers for a trade. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not permitted to publicly discuss personnel matters. Brown appeared to make his decision official in a social media post released on Instagram on Tuesday. The video includes highlights from Brown’s career with the Steelers while lyrics from “Do What I Want” by rapper Lil Uzi Vert plays in the background. “SteelerNation thank you for nine big years!!!” Brown wrote. “Time to move on and move forward.”  The post came shortly after Brown was found guilty in absence on a charge of reckless driving in a suburban Pittsburgh court on Tuesday morning. Brown was charged in November for driving his black sports car over 100 mph in a 45 mph zone. He paid a $426.77 fine. Brown did not attend Tuesday’s hearing.

Wisconsin judge tosses wrestler’s suspension, worrying refs
A Wisconsin judge’s ruling overturning a high school wrestler’s suspension is causing worry among referees who fear their officiating could be undermined by courts. At issue is a Feb. 2 wrestling contest in which the victor was suspended for one match for arguing and with a referee and showing off after he won. The suspension of Waterford High School sophomore Hayden Halter would have caused him to miss a key match to make it to the state tournament finals.   Halter’s parents took their case to court in Racine County because the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association doesn’t allow appeals of officiating calls. A judge ruled Friday that Halter shouldn’t have been suspended.  National Association of Sports Officials President Barry Mano says WIAA doesn’t allow wrestlers to appeal because that would create too many complications.
