St. Joseph’s #1 Singles tennis standout Ryan Okonski was chosen Division 3 Player of the Year by the Michigan High School Coaches Association. The honor goes annually to each division’s top senior tennis player.

The selection also makes Ryan a finalist for the State’s Mr. Tennis award.

This year, at #1 singles, Ryan was a conference finalist, he was regional champion and was a semifinalist at the State Finals. Ryan is a four time First Team All-State selection.

Bears’ coach Pat Hoffmann said,”Ryan has had an exceptional career at St. Joe. His tennis skills are obviously first rate but he has meant so much more to our program. He has set the bar in our program since he arrived in terms of preparation, mental toughness, and sportsmanship. He has also given of himself unselfishly to help teammates to become the best they can be”.
