The University of Michigan-Dearborn will not compete in sports this fall, making it the first college in the state to extend its cancellation of athletic events through the fall season.

The school’s chancellor says they are taking extra measures to provide a healthy and safe learning and teaching environment for the community. Affected for the fall are men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country, and volleyball.

U of M Dearborn says talks will continue regarding winter and spring sports seasons, with all decisions being made based on health and safety.
