Lake Michigan Catholic Senior DeKurtis Murphy has signed a national letter of intent to play football for Davenport University.
Murphy had other Division 3 up to Division 1 options to weigh, but said Davenport was the perfect fit for him athletically and academically. He added that he is grateful for the opportunity Davenport is giving him to compete and grow as an individual at the next level.
With his immediate future set, Murphy said the signing gives him a renewed purpose in life. He also admitted it will be nice to finish the rest of the basketball season at Lake Michigan Catholic without still having to worry about what school he would attend after graduation.
Davenport is in the process of starting its football program. Their inaugural season kicks off in 2016. Murphy said that he’s excited and nervous about being a member of Davenport’s first ever football team.
