SMAC CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT – ROUND 1

It was a defensive battle as the Bears were out shot 8-1. Cailynn Junk had five saves in goal in the loss for St. Joe.

Lake Michigan Catholic 8, Covert 0
Maggie Tidey scored four of the Lakers eight goals. Hattie Latham added a goal and two assists. With the win, Catholic improves to 12-2 on the season.

 

Hartford 5, Saugatuck 1
The Indians got two goals and two assists from Abigail Lopez. Madison Hays also scored twice. Mary Pultz had 12 saves in goal for Hartford.

BASEBALL
Buchanan 5, Brandywine 0 – Game 1
Jacob Hoover picked up the win for the Bucks, pitching a complete game one hitter while recording 13 strikeouts. At the plate, Sam Riley finished with three hits and four RBIs.
Buchanan 11, Brandywine 1 – Game 2
Austin Williams tripled and drove in three runs for the Bucks. Bred VanOverberghe and Kade Hearington each drove in two runs for Buchanan. VanOverberghe got the win on the mound, allowing just one run over five innings.

SOFTBALL
Buchanan 5, Brandywine 4 – Game 1
The Bucks scored four runs in the 5th inning and one more in the 7th. Brandywine scored twice in the bottom of the 7th to pull to within one, but couldn’t finish the comeback. Sophia Lozmack doubled twice for Buchanan and also picked up the win in the circle.
Brandywine 8, Buchanan 7 – Game 2
The Bobcats scored two runs in each of the first three innings on their way to the win. Buchanan pulled to within one with two runs in the top of the 6th, but the rally fell short. Sophia Lozmack homered in the loss for the Bucks.

 

Decatur 12, Hartford 6 – Game 1
The Raiders were powered by a five run 4th inning. They scattered 11 hits and collected four stolen bases. Erika Debroka was 3-5 at the plate with three RBIs for Decatur. Mikenzie Chambers drove in two runs for Hartford. Regan Rose went the distance in picking up the win in the circle.
Hartford 14, Decatur 11 – Game 2
The Indians scored four runs in the 4th inning and were able to pull away from there. Megan Nelson went 3-4 at the plate and added four stolen bases. Regan Rose drove in three runs in the loss for the Raiders.
