High school basketball results from Friday, Jan. 30…

BOYS’ SCORES
Portage Northern 54,  St. Joe 47
St. Joe fell at Portage Northern 54-47. The Bears clawed their way back from a nine point second half deficit but didn’t have enough to overtake the Huskies. Jordan Brewer was the only Bear in double figures with a game high 16 points. Blake Therrian led Northern with 14 points.

Lakeshore 61,  Portage Central 52   OT
Lakeshore came away with a hard fought 61-52 overtime win at Portage Central. The Mustangs came out firing, connecting on nine of 13 three pointers in the first half. Despite the Mustangs’ hot shooting, the Lancers trailed by only two at the half. Lakeshore outscored Central 11-6 in the fourth quarter to send it to overtime. Jimmy Gathright poured in 28 points for the Lancers.

Eau Claire 56,  Michigan Lutheran 49
Eau Claire remained undefeated in Red Arrow Conference play with a 56-49 win over Michigan Lutheran.  The Beavers got a game high 15 points from Jalen Davis as they improve to 7-0 in the conference and 9-2 overall.  Cory Burnett and Jeremy Barbott each finished with 13 points for the Titans.

Paw Paw 86,  Berrien Springs 58
Paw Paw ran off with an 86-58 win over Berrien Springs. Tanner Eubank led the Redskins with 34 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists. Nick Klingel added 21 points as Paw Paw improves to 9-3 on the season.

Dowagiac 77,  Coloma 59
Dowagiac used a strong start to defeat Coloma 77-59. The Chieftains started the game outscoring the Comets by 17 in the first quarter. Brandon Winchester-Jones was the only Chieftain in double figures with 23 points. Jason Walters led all scorers with 38 points for Coloma.

Lawrence 67,  Watervliet 60
Watervliet ran out to a 21-10 lead after one quarter but couldn’t hang on as Lawrence came back to pull out a 67-60 win. The Tigers outscored the Panthers by 18 in the fourth quarter to pull out the victory. Matt Cammire led Lawrence with a game high 38 points. Bradley Alden paced Watervliet with 28.

Bangor 77,  Bloomingdale 66
Bangor got 32 points from Lamar Clinton in a 77-66 win over Bloomingdale. The Vikings led by just one at the half but took control coming out of the break. William Mills and Tre Jaun each finished with 19 points for Bloomindale.

Marcellus 54,  Decatur 46
Marcellus hung on for a 54-46 win over Decatur. The Raiders came back from an 11 point deficit after the first quarter to pull to within one after three, but the Wildcats managed to pull it out in the end. Todd Shelly and Michael Bailey each scored ten points for Marcellus. Noah Rufo turned in a game high 13 points for Decatur.

GIRLS’ SCORES
St. Joe 43,  Portage Northern 39
St. Joe held on for a 43-39 win at Portage Northern. Shelby Madison led the Lady Bears with 20 points. With the win, St. Joe improves to 9-3 on the season and 4-2 in the SMAC West.

Lakeshore 65,  Portage Central 22
Morgan Kaiser scored 21 points to lead Lakeshore to a 65-22 win over Portage Central. Kaiser started out hot, hitting four 3 pointers in the first quarter. The Lancers jumped out to a 14 point lead after the first quarter and never looked back. With the win, Lakeshore improves to 12-2 on the season and 6-0 in the SMAC West.

Paw Paw 72,  Berrien Springs 51
Behind a strong first half, Paw Paw upended Berrien Springs 72-51. The Redskins took a five point lead after the first quarter and extended it to 16 at the half. Chloe Salman turned in a game high 24 points for Paw Paw. The Shamrocks got 15 points from Tyanna Pierce.
