Benton Harbor 60, River Rouge 49
Benton Harbor earned a trip to the Class B Boys’ Basketball State Finals with a 60-49 win over River Rouge Friday night.
The game was tied at 12 after the first quarter and tied at 25 at the half. The Tigers came out and outscored the Panthers by ten in the third quarter and made the difference stand down the stretch.
Shawn Hopkins finished with a double-double for Benton Harbor with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Elijah Baxter was right behind Hopkins with 17 points. The Tigers out rebounded River Rouge 39 to 36. The Panthers managed to shoot just 29% from the floor against the Tiger defense.
Benton Harbor will face Grand Rapids Catholic Central Saturday night at 6:45 for the Class B State Championship. Catholic Central upended top ranked New Haven 69-53.
