NFL – Bears can’t corral Hail Mary on final play, blow 4th-quarter lead in loss to Browns
For a split second, Darnell Mooney had the ball, a breathtaking win and Chicago’s playoff hopes in his hands. They all slipped away. Mooney couldn’t haul in a Hail Mary pass from Justin Fields on the final play as the Bears fell 20-17 to the Cleveland Browns. The Bears blew a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter. Chicago is two games out of a wild-card spot with three games left. On the final play, Fields launched a pass toward the end zone. When it came down, two Browns defenders batted it toward Mooney, who momentarily cradled it on his chest before it squirted out.

NFL – Eagles’ Jalen Hurts questionable for Monday night vs Seahawks because of illness
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is questionable for Monday night’s game at Seattle because of an illness, a person familiar with his status told The Associated Press on Sunday. The person, speaking on condition of anonymity because the injury report hasn’t been released yet, said Hurts will travel separately from the team. The Eagles have lost two straight games but would secure the NFC East title if they beat the Seahawks and win their final three games.  A loss by Seattle would clinch a playoff berth for the Detroit Lions

Star freshman Hannah Hildalgo had 23 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists and seven steals and even threw in a blocked shot on a memorable Sunday that saw No. 14 Notre Dame dominate in-state rival Purdue 76-39 after the Fighting Irish unveiled a statue of legendary coach Muffet McGraw outside Purcell Pavilion. McGraw retired in 2020 after 33 years as head coach with 936 wins, nine trips to the Final Four and national championships in 2001 and 2018. After the unveiling, it was time for Niele Ivey’s team to take over and they did with a dominating defense, holding Purdue to 25% shooting and forcing 21 turnovers. The Boilermakers were outrebounded 45-29 and outscored 44-14 in the paint. Abbey Ellis scored eight points for Purdue.
