In college football, Michigan received its eighth commitment in the 2021 class on Sunday. Detroit Cass Tech four-star center Raheem Anderson announced his commitment to the Wolverines via Twitter.
The 6-3, 298-pounder is Michigan’s third offensive lineman commit in the 2021 class, which moved up to #3 in the Big Ten and # 9 in the nation.
Anderson is the 3rd ranked center in the nation and 211th overall prospect. He chose Michigan over 25 other schools including Georgia and LSU.

In baseball, former Cubs great Glenn Beckert passed away over the weekend. Beckert teamed with shortstop Don Kessinger for his entire nine-year Cubs career to form one of the best double-play combinations in baseball. Beckert had the best strikeout-to-at-bat ratio in the National League five times and finished third in average when he hit a career-high .342 in 1971. The four-time All-Star second baseman passed away of natural causes at age 79.

In hockey, former Red Wing Tom Webster passed away Friday. He was 71. Webster had 33 goals and 42 assists in 102 career NHL games with Detroit, Boston, and California. He then jumped to the WHA, where he had 220 goals and 205 assists in 352 games with the New England Whalers. He scored 53 goals and helped the franchise the Whalers win the World Hockey Association’s first title in 1972-73.

Many organizers are taking a “wait and see” approach on whether a 2020 season is possible. But some summer tournaments have already been canceled. There is also concern that some players may not return in 2021 if they don’t play this season.
