NFL – Colts hire Eagles OC Shane Steichen as their head coach
The Indianapolis Colts have hired Shane Steichen as their head coach. The move ends a search that took more than a month and included more than a dozen candidates. Each of the Colts’ last two full-time hires were offensive coordinators for Philadelphia Eagles teams that made the Super Bowl. Frank Reich was hired in 2018 after the Eagles won their first championship since 1960 but was fired in October as the Colts’ season started to unravel. Interim coach Jeff Saturday was one of the finalists for the permanent position. But Indy instead elected to hire Steichen, who becomes the league’s third 37-year-old head coach.

NFL – Kansas City ready to celebrate its latest Super Bowl win
Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to clog the streets of downtown Kansas City to celebrate the 2023 Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs. Officials began planning Wednesday’s parade even before the Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. City leaders said 19 local and area law enforcement agencies, along with fire officials and transportation workers, are ready to provide protection as the team takes a victory lap through downtown Kansas City. Most schools, many businesses and some government offices in the Kansas City metro area will be closed so people can celebrate. The event starts at noon and will end with a victory rally at the city’s Union Station.

NFL – Super Bowl averages 113 million, 3rd most-watched in history
Sunday’s Super Bowl was the third most-watched television show in history, with an average of 113.1 million people watching the Kansas City Chiefs rally to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles after final Nielsen figures were released Tuesday. Fox said the total numbers include the broadcasts on Fox and Fox Deportes as well as streaming on Fox and the NFL’s digital sites. The figures are via Nielsen and Adobe Analytics. Rihanna’s halftime show averaged 118.7 million viewers, making it the second-most watched in Super Bowl history behind Katy Perry’s 2015 performance.
