Corey Kluber allowed one run in six innings to win his fourth consecutive start, and the Cleveland Indians defeated the Chicago White Sox for the seventh straight time, 3-1 on Tuesday night. Kluber (13-8) struck out seven and walked two, allowing his only run on Justin Morenau’s one-out homer in the sixth. Kluber is 5-0 with a 1.80 ERA in seven starts since a July 3 loss at Toronto. Andrew Miller retired six straight batters, and Cody Allen pitched a perfect ninth for his 23rd save in 25 chances to complete a seven-hitter. Javier Baez hit a two-run homer while Hammel (13-5) struck out seven to extend his scoreless streak to 22 innings. MLB – Tigers’ Miguel Cabrera out of lineup with biceps injury
Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera was not in the starting lineup Tuesday because of a strained biceps muscle. Cabrera was hurt Monday while reaching for a wild throw from pitcher Daniel Norris in the first inning. He stayed in the game long enough to bat twice, then left after the fourth. Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said Cabrera asked to play Tuesday but the team decided to be cautious. Ausmus does not expect him to miss more than two-to-three games, and there was no thought of putting Cabrera on the disabled list.

MLB – Braves trade Aybar to Tigers, clearing path for Swanson
Braves shortstop Erick Aybar has been traded to the Detroit Tigers, clearing a path for Alanta to call up top prospect Dansby Swanson.  Swanson, the No. 1 overall draft pick of 2015, will be in the lineup at shortstop on Wednesday against Minnesota in his major league debut. “I think that Dansby is going to be able to handle it mentally,” said John Hart, Atlanta’s president of baseball operations. “He’s not a kid that if he comes in and really struggles right out of the gate that it’s going to affect him. This is a kid that finds a lot of ways to help you win games other than maybe what he does with the bat.” Atlanta received infielder Mike Aviles and catcher Kade Scivicque in Tuesday’s trade.

Olympics – Women’s Gymnastics – More medals for Team USA
Simone Biles and Aly Raisman average 4-foot-11 in height, but they cast a very long shadow on the medal podium. The American gymnasts finished one-two in Tuesday’s floor exercise at the Rio Olympics. Biles provided a dazzling performance in capturing her fourth gold medal of the games. Her five total medals tie the most for an American female gymnast in a single Olympics, and her four golds match an Olympic record shared by four others. Biles posted a score of 15.966, moments before Raisman came away with her second silver and third medal of the Rio Games. Raisman was second in the all-around to Biles last week after grabbing gold in the team event. The medals gave the American women nine during the meet, the most ever by the U.S. at an Olympics.

Olympics – Men’s Gymnastics
American Danell Leyva has earned the silver medal in men’s parallel bars, finishing behind Oleg Verniaiev of Ukraine. Verniaiev has won two medals in these Olympics.

Olympics – Women’s 1,500 Meters

The U.S. racked up two medals in the men’s triple jump. Christian Taylor successfully defended his title, while teammate Will Claye finished second for the second consecutive Olympics.

Olympics – Women’s 200 Meters

Olympics – Women’s Field Hockey
The United States women’s field hockey team placed fifth, the program’s best finish in 20 years. The Americans lost their quarterfinal match to Germany and their final ranking is based on their second-place finish in pool play. The Americans also placed fifth at the 1996 Games in Atlanta.

NFL – Lions remove LB DeAndre Levy from injury list
The Detroit Lions have removed linebacker DeAndre Levy from active/non-football injury list. Levy missed almost all of last season because of hip problems, and he has not shared the details of his latest injury. The Lions are hoping he can play a major role on their defense and be healthy for the rest of 2016. Levy had a career-high 151 tackles (117 solo) during the 2014 season, a performance that earned him a contract extension last August. He has started 83 games for Detroit since being drafted by the Lions in the third round in 2009.

NFL – Lawsuit filed by fans who missed Hall of Fame game
Four fans have sued the NFL over the Hall of Fame game in Canton that was canceled because of poor field conditions. The class-action lawsuit was filed Thursday in federal court in northern Ohio on behalf of all the ticket holders who lost out when the Aug. 7 game was canceled after paint congealed and hardened on portions of the field at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium. The Pro Football Hall of Fame also was named in the suit. Attorney Michael Avenatti, who represented ticket holders for the 2011 Super Bowl who wound up without seats in Dallas, filed the breach-of-contract lawsuit. He said the hall’s plan to only refund ticket prices was too little.

NFL – Harrison ready for a fight with the NFL
Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison says he won’t play by the NFL rules when it comes to its investigation of a report that he and some other linebackers in the league used performance-enhancing drugs. The NFL’s senior vice president of labor policy and league affairs, Adolpho Birch, sent a letter Monday to the NFL Players Association detailing a plan to indefinitely suspend Harrison, Clay Matthews, Julius Peppers and Mike Neal if they don’t speak with the league by Aug. 25 as part of its investigation. Harrison says he won’t answer questions just because of a report. He said he doesn’t want to be suspended, but adds he is prepared to take the situation as far as Tom Brady did.

NFL – Dolphins’ home has a new name: Hard Rock Stadium
The Miami Dolphins’ home has a new name: Hard Rock Stadium.  The naming-right agreement comes as the Dolphins near completion on a $500 million renovation that includes a canopy over the stands.   Now 29 years old, the stadium is home to the Dolphins, Miami Hurricanes and Orange Bowl game. It will be the site of the 2020 Super Bowl. The stadium has also been known as Dolphin Stadium, Joe Robbie Stadium, Pro Player Park, Pro Player Stadium, Land Shark Stadium and Sun Life Stadium. A naming-rights deal with Sun Life recently expired.  The Dolphins will play the first game in Hard Rock Stadium on Sept. 1 when they face the Tennessee Titans in their preseason finale. The Hurricanes are scheduled to open their season in the stadium Sept. 3 against Florida A&M.

NCAA Football – Michigan DE Shelton Johnson, WR Ahmir Mitchell suspended
Michigan defensive end Shelton Johnson and wide receiver Ahmir Mitchell have been suspended. Coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters Monday that two players were suspended, although he did not identify them or give additional details. An athletic department spokesman has confirmed he was referring to Johnson and Mitchell. Johnson signed with the Wolverines in 2015 but did not play in any games last season. Mitchell was part of the team’s signing class this year.

NHL – Ottawa Senators to retire Daniel Alfredsson’s No. 11 jersey
The Ottawa Senators will retire former captain Daniel Alfredsson’s No. 11 on Dec. 29 when they host the Detroit Red Wings. Alfredsson will become just the second player in club history to receive the honor. The other is No. 8 that was worn by forward Frank Arthur Finnigan. Alfredsson, currently the Senators’ senior adviser of hockey operations, played 18 NHL seasons, all but one of them for Ottawa. He served as the club’s captain for 13 seasons and holds many club records, including goals (426), assists (682), points (1,108) and playoff games (121). The six-time All-Star twice helped Sweden win Olympic hockey medals (gold in 2006, silver in 2014).
