Chris Bosh scored 34 points, including 21 in the third quarter, but nobody else provided much help offensively for Miami, which was still without injured star Dwyane Wade. It was the first time in Bosh’s five seasons with the Heat that they lost a regular-season game with him scoring at least 30 points. They had been 17-0. Andre Drummond had 14 points and 14 rebounds for the Pistons, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 18. Greg Monroe had 12 points and nine rebounds. Detroit is now 2 1/2 games behind Miami and Charlotte, which occupy the last two playoff spots in the Eastern Conference.

Devan Dubnyk stopped 24 shots in his third shutout since joining Minnesota in mid-January, leading the Wild to their fourth straight win, 3-0 over the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday night. Mikko Koivu, Jason Zucker and Mikael Granlund each scored for the Wild. Since being acquired by Minnesota in a trade with Arizona, Dubnyk is 6-1 with a 1.57 goals against average. He has four shutouts overall this season. The Blackhawks, fourth in the Western Conference, spent the previous two days in Las Vegas and were outshot 43-24. Super Bowl XLIX – MVP Brady to give award to MVP on defense
New England Patriots QB Tom Brady says he’s giving the truck he won for being MVP of the Super Bowl to the man who saved the game for the Pats.Brady told WEEI radio in Boston that he intends to transfer ownership of the truck to Malcolm Butler, the undrafted free agent out of West Alabama whose last-minute interception at the goal line saved the game.

NFL – Falcons’ owner admits it was done
Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank says he has seen enough of the NFL’s investigation of fake crowd noise at Atlanta’s home games to acknowledge wrongdoing. The NFL has said it is trying to determine if the Falcons pumped artificial crowd noise into the Georgia Dome for home games the last two years. Apparently, the answer is yes. Blank says he expects the league to report its findings in two to three weeks. The Falcons could be fined or penalized with the loss of a draft pick if found to have added fake crowd noise during the opposing team’s huddles.

NFL – St. Louis hires stadium consultant in bid to keep Rams
A consultant whose past projects include baseball’s Busch Stadium and Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City has been hired to help oversee a proposed riverfront football stadium in St. Louis. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that John Loyd of Orange Beach, Alabama, will join the effort to keep the Rams in St. Louis as team owner Stan Kroenke considers returning the NFL team to Los Angeles.  Loyd is the first hire since the St. Louis Regional Convention and Sports Complex Authority approved such expenses last week. He oversaw design and construction of Busch Stadium, which opened in 2006 in downtown St. Louis. Loyd also worked on baseball stadium projects in Cleveland, Miami and Pittsburgh and the renovation of Everbank Field, home of the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars.

NCAA Basketball – Women’s – Eastern Michigan postpones game to attend player’s funeral
Eastern Michigan’s women’s basketball team has rescheduled Saturday’s road game with Miami so players can attend the funeral of a teammate who died in a car crash. The game will take place at 6 p.m. Feb. 17 in Oxford, Ohio. Twenty-one-year-old junior forward Shannise Heady of Hazel Crest, Illinois, was killed Jan. 25 in a car accident in Washtenaw County’s Ypsilanti Township, just west of campus. The crash also killed her passenger, 23-year-old Eastern Michigan student Jordan Hopkins of Dexter. The team plans to pay tribute to Heady throughout the season by wearing patches with her No. 32 on their jerseys. The Eagles’ men’s and women’s teams have honored Heady at recent games.

NCAA Basketball – Women’s – Auriemma reaches 900 wins
Connecticut women’s coach Geno Auriemma has reached the 900-victory plateau in just 1,034 games, the fastest of any other college basketball coach. Auriemma’s second-ranked UConn Huskies routed Cincinnati 96-36 to leave him 198 victories behind former Tennessee coach Pat Summitt, the all-time leader among women’s basketball coaches.

MLB – MLB eliminates license requirement for Cuban players
Major League Baseball has eliminated its requirement that Cuban players obtain a license from the U.S. government before they are eligible to sign with big league teams. The decision could speed the negotiating process for Yoan Moncada, a well-regarded 19-year-old infielder who left Cuba last year with permission from Cuba’s government. MLB Executive Vice President Dan Halem sent a memorandum to teams Tuesday, saying the new policy was warranted following changes made last month by the U.S. government.

Golf – PGA – Caddies suing Tour over bibs
A group of PGA Tour caddies sued the PGA Tour in federal court for making them wear bibs that have the logo of the tournament sponsors without sharing in what it estimates as $50 million in endorsement revenue. The class-action suit on behalf of 81 caddies was filed in San Francisco, where former UCLA basketball star Ed O’Bannon successfully sued the NCAA for keeping college players from selling their marketing rights.

Cycling – Disgraced cyclist cited by police
Authorities in Aspen, Colorado, say cyclist Lance Armstrong hit two parked cars with his SUV after a night of partying in Aspen but agreed to let his girlfriend take the blame to avoid national attention. Police say they cited Armstrong after the Dec. 28 hit-and-run but only after his girlfriend, Anna Hansen, admitted to lying for him. Police say Hansen told them she had been driving home from a party when she lost control of Armstrong’s SUV, hitting the cars. But Hansen eventually told officers Armstrong was driving, and they both decided to let her take the blame.

Olympics – IOC president doesn’t see American football as Olympic sport
American football isn’t getting into the Summer Olympics anytime soon. International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach said at the world ski championships Tuesday that one condition for inclusion into the Olympics is a sport “must have a broad international representation. This I cannot see in football. It’s a very American sport.”  Still, he enjoyed being in Arizona for the Super Bowl and watching Tom Brady lead New England to the title Sunday. Bach tried to keep up, but didn’t understand the rules. That’s not the reason Bach doesn’t see it as a sport in the Olympic program sometime. Soccer is more of a global sport than American football. Bach said he talked to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who didn’t try to push for football’s inclusion into the Olympics.
