Brandon Lloyd, Anquan Boldin and Michael Crabtree each caught a scoring pass for the 4-2 49ers, who have won three in a row. Austin Davis tossed a 22-yard pass to Lance Kendricks to give the Rams a 14-point lead in the first quarter.

NFL – Bears elevate cornerback from practice squad
The Chicago Bears have elevated cornerback Terrance Mitchell to the 53-man roster from the practice squad. Mitchell has been on Chicago’s practice squad the entire season. He was drafted out of Oregon by Dallas in the seventh round last spring. The Bears also waived linebacker Terrell Manning and signed safety Shamiel Gary and tight end Jacob Maxwell to the practice squad.

NBA – National Basketball Association
Last Night
Chicago Bulls 110, Denver Nuggets 90

Bulls 110, Nuggets 90 – Butler leads Bulls to 110-90 win over Nuggets
Jimmy Butler scored 21 points while rookie Doug McDermott added 16 to lead the Chicago Bulls to a 110-90 rout of the Denver Nuggets in an exhibition game on Monday night. Kenneth Faried led a balanced Nuggets offense with 19 points. Jusuf Nurkic scored 15 and Timofey Mozgov and Arron Afflalo each added 10 for Denver. Derrick Rose and Taj Gibson each scored 15 while Nikola Mirotic added 12 for the Bulls. After trailing early, Denver pushed to a 30-19 lead after one quarter and led by as many as 21 in the second quarter before Chicago launched a 29-4 run to force a 58-58 halftime tie on Tony Snell’s fast-break dunk with six seconds showing. The Bulls led 83-75 after three quarters and the Nuggets never got closer than eight in the fourth.

NBA – Pistons say Caldwell-Pope has strained knee
Detroit Pistons guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is expected to miss the next three preseason games with a left knee strain, but the team says an MRI showed no structural damage. Caldwell-Pope was injured during the third quarter of Sunday’s loss at Washington. He is expected to be re-evaluated next week. The Pistons drafted Caldwell-Pope in the first round last year, and he averaged 5.9 points per game. He made 41 starts.

NHL – Officials: Tax payments current at Joe Louis Arena
Officials say the company that leases Joe Louis Arena for Detroit Red Wings games is up to date on paying property taxes at the arena. The Detroit Free Press reports Olympia Entertainment paid its bill on time this summer and paid half of a $5.2 million settlement with the city related to cable TV revenues. The update comes in a report to Detroit City Council. The company is expected to make other payments later. The city has said timely tax collection has been a past issue. Olympia Entertainment and the Red Wings are part of Mike Ilitch’s stable of companies. Officials last month held a groundbreaking for a new 18,000-seat hockey arena and 45-block entertainment complex in Detroit. Ilitch has said the new hockey arena will open in 2017.

NCAA Football – Coach: QB Jameis Winston will not miss any games
Coach Jimbo Fisher says Florida State’s Jameis Winston has committed no crime and is adamant the quarterback will not miss any games this season due to an ongoing sexual assault investigation.  Fisher said Monday recent reports about the investigation haven’t revealed any new facts. Fisher says, “The facts are the facts. .. There is no victim because there was no crime.” Florida State announced last week it will use an independent official in the student code of conduct hearing. No hearing date has been set. A female student said Winston sexually assaulted her in December 2012. Florida State Attorney Willie Meggs declined to press charges against Winston last December due to inconsistencies and flaws in the evidence. Florida State fell to No. 2 after an 18-point win against Syracuse Saturday.  Florida State hosts 5th ranked Notre Dame this weekend.

Olympics – Psychologist: Pistorius a `broken man’
Oscar Pistorius is a “broken man” after killing girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp because he lost her, his reputation, friends, income and sense of self-worth, according to a psychologist. Dr. Lore Hartzenberg was called by the Olympic runner’s lawyers to testify ahead of Pistorius’ sentencing for culpable homicide. Her testimony was almost immediately characterized by the chief prosecutor as unbalanced. The punishment for culpable homicide can range from a suspended sentence and a fine to as many as 15 years in prison. The judge found Pistorius not guilty last month of both premeditated murder and murder in the killing of Steenkamp.
