Wizards 107, Pistons 103 – Wall’s 26 points lead Wizards over Pistons 107-103
John Wall had 27 points and 11 assists as the Washington Wizards pulled out a 107-103 win over the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night. The teams traded the lead on five consecutive baskets before Wall’s jumper with 1:11 to play put the Wizards ahead 101-100. Marcin Gortat, who had 13 points and 14 rebounds dunked with 38 seconds to play, giving Washington a 3-point lead. Rasual Butler had 18 points for the Wizards. His two free throws with four seconds to play put Washington ahead 107-103. Butler made seven of his eight field goal attempts. Detroit, which lost for the third straight time and fell to 2-6, took a 13-point first quarter lead, thanks to Brandon Jennings, who scored 16 of his game-high 32 points in the quarter. MLB – Reports: Tigers reach 4-year deal with Martinez
Multiple reports say the Detroit Tigers have reached agreement on a four-year, free-agent deal with slugger Victor Martinez, keeping the 35-year-old designated hitter in the middle of their lineup following perhaps the best season of his career. Martinez hit .335 with 32 home runs and 103 RBIs this year, helping Detroit to its fourth straight AL Central title _ a streak that began after the Tigers signed him as a free agent before the 2011 season. The switch-hitting Martinez has hit over .300 in eight of his last nine seasons, not counting 2012, which he missed because of a knee injury. His bat carried the Tigers at times in 2014, when Miguel Cabrera slipped ever so slightly from his MVP form.

MLB – Tigers acquire OF Gose from Blue Jays for prospect
The Detroit Tigers have acquired outfielder Anthony Gose from the Toronto Blue Jays for second base prospect Devon Travis. The teams announced the trade last night. Team President Dave Dombrowski says Gose can provide “above-average defense” in center field and a good arm.

MLB Awards – Kershaw, Kluber capture Cy Young Awards
Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw is a unanimous winner for his third NL Cy Young Award, while Cleveland stopper Corey Kluber is the AL Cy Young winner. Kershaw earned the pitching prize for the second year in a row, getting all 30 first-place votes after going 21-3 with a 1.77 ERA for the NL West champions. Kluber edged out Seattle’s Felix Hernandez for the AL honor after going 18-9 with 269 strikeouts and a 2.44 ERA in his first full major league season.

MLB – Official: Tavares drunk when he crashed and died
An official in the Dominican Republic says St. Louis Cardinals rookie outfielder Oscar Taveras was drunk at the time of his fatal car crash last month in his Caribbean homeland. A spokeswoman for the Dominican attorney general’s office told The Associated Press toxicology reports showed Taveras had a blood-alcohol level five times the country’s legal limit when he lost control of his car Oct. 26. Taveras hit .239 with three homers and 22 RBIs in 80 games this year.

MLB – Baseball looking at more ways to speed up
Major League Baseball might look at tweaking its replay challenge system to prevent managers from lingering on the field before determining if they want a play reviewed. The replay system was changed last season, allowing teams one challenge per game, and another if that one was successful. All sides seemed pleased overall with the system. But there was concern that managers were spending too much time on the field, stalling while awaiting word from the dugout on whether to challenge or not. Baseball’s general managers also discussed possibly implementing elements of experimental pace-of-play measures being used in the Arizona Fall League, where 20-second pitch clocks are being used.

In front of dozens of family and friends, Kalabrya signed the letter that officially made her a Spartan saying “I feel great, it’s a surreal moment, it’s like a dream come true”.  She added that this moment solidifies what she is going to do as she takes the next step.  Even after making the verbal commitment months ago, this helps put the entire recruiting process behind her and now she can just focus on her senior season with the Tigers, which begins Friday, December 5 at Niles.   In other area signings:
