NFL – National Football League – Week 9
Last Night
Tennessee Titans 28, Dallas Cowboys 14

Titans 28, Cowboys 14 – Mariota recovers, Titans top Cowboys 28-14
Marcus Mariota threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score after fumbling on Tennessee’s first two possessions, and the Titans spoiled Amari Cooper’s Dallas debut with a 28-14 victory over the Cowboys on Monday night. Kevin Byard sparked the sluggish Titans with an end-zone interception of Dak Prescott and celebrated T.O.-style. The Tennessee safety sprinted to midfield and stood on the Cowboys’ star logo while spreading his arms, just as Terrell Owens did 18 years ago at old Texas Stadium in a San Francisco rout.  The Titans (4-4) stopped a three-game losing streak while handing the Cowboys (3-5) their first loss in four home games and giving Dallas a difficult road to recovery for the playoffs.

NFL – Lions fire special teams coach
Detroit Lions special-teams coach Joe Marciano has been fired after 3½ seasons with the franchise.  The 64-year-old Marciano had been with the franchise since the 2015 season, when John Bonamego left to become the head coach at Central Michigan University. He was one of a handful of holdovers from the Jim Caldwell coaching staff to the Matt Patricia staff.  The Lions did not announce Monday who would be replacing Marciano. Assistant special-teams coach Devin Fitzsimmons remains on staff.

NBA – National Basketball Association
Last Night
Miami Heat 120, Detroit Pistons 115 – OT
Chicago Bulls 116, New York Knicks 115 – 2 OT
Houston Rockets 98, Indiana Pacers 94

Heat 120, Pistons 115 – OT – Richardson scores 27, leads Heat past Pistons 120-115 in OT
Josh Richardson scored 27 points to lead the short-handed Miami Heat past the Detroit Pistons 120-115 in overtime Monday night. Richardson hit four free throws in the final 2.1 seconds to clinch it, ending Miami’s three-game skid. Detroit has dropped five in a row. The Heat played without center Hassan Whiteside, who is second in the NBA in rebounding (14.6 per game) and blocked shots (2.75). Whiteside missed the game with an injured right knee. Kelly Olynyk, filling Whiteside’s spot on the floor, scored 10 of his 13 points in the second half. Goran Dragic had 21 points and 15-year veteran Dwyane Wade, playing his farewell NBA season, contributed 18 off the bench. Andre Drummond had 25 points for Detroit, and the NBA rebounding leader pulled down a game-high 24 boards. Reggie Jackson scored 25 and Langston Galloway added 21 off the bench. Blake Griffin, second in the league in scoring, had 24 points before fouling out in the 4th quarter.

Bulls 116, Knicks 115 – 2OT – LaVine scores career-high 41 points in double OT win
Zach LaVine scored a career-high 41 points, including the game-winning free throw with 0.2 seconds left, as the Chicago Bulls beat the New York Knicks 116-115 in double overtime on Monday night. Antonio Blakeney scored 17 points, Jabari Parker had 15 and Wendell Carter Jr. added 11 points and 13 rebounds for the Bulls. Enes Kanter led the Knicks with 23 points and 24 rebounds while Allonzo Trier scored 21. Emmanuel Mudiay’s coast-to-coast layup had tied the score with 2.7 seconds left.  Lavine, who scored all eight of Chicago’s points in the second OT, was then fouled by Mudiay. The Bulls star made the first free throw to give the Bulls the win. He also scored the final points of the first overtime with his fadeaway jumper with 1:13 remaining.

Rockets 98, Pacers 94 – Harden’s late 3 helps Houston rocket past Pacers 98-94
James Harden scored seven of his 28 points over the last 35 seconds of the Houston Rockets’ 98-94 victory at Indiana. Harden drained a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 34.8 seconds left and added four free throws. Clint Capela contributed 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Rockets, who have won three in a row since a 1-5 start.  Victor Oladipo scored 28 points for Indiana.

NHL – Senators players filmed trashing team, coach while in Uber
A video has surfaced showing several Ottawa Senators players trashing the team and an assistant coach during an Uber ride, the latest bit of humiliation for an organization that’s been riddled with it recently.  The video shows players discussing their ineffective penalty kill and mocking assistant Martin Raymond in what appears to be a recording from a camera mounted on the dash of an Uber Driver’s van or SUV. There are seven players in the vehicle, including Matt Duchene, Chris Wideman, Chris Tierney and Thomas Chabot.  Post Media shared the video on its YouTube page Monday night. It said the video was originally posted elsewhere over the weekend and has since been deleted. It’s not clear who posted the original video.  Players ridiculed Raymond, who handles the team’s penalty-killing unit. Duchene calls Raymond “the only coach in NHL history to have the worst power play and the worst PK within a calendar year.”
