Texans 42, Dolphins 23 – Watson’s 5 TD throws lead Texans
DeShaun Watson tied his career high by throwing for five touchdowns in the Houston Texans’ 42-23 victory over Miami. Watson had scoring passes of 73 and 49 yards to run his career total to 34, second-most in league history after 15 games. Rookie Jordan Thomas caught the first two touchdown passes of his career to help the Texans pick up their fifth straight win since an 0-3 start. DeAndre Hopkins had 82 yards receiving and two scores and Will Fuller added 124-yards receiving and a touchdown.

Pistons 110, Cavaliers 103 – Pistons still unbeaten after 110-103 win over Cleveland
Andre Drummond had 26 points and 22 rebounds, and the Detroit Pistons remained unbeaten with a 110-103 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night. The Pistons are 4-0 for the first time since the 2008-09 season. Cleveland, which was without injured star Kevin Love, fell to 0-5 for the first time since 2003-04, when LeBron James was a rookie.  Drummond, who was ejected in the win over the 76ers, had 20 points and 20 rebounds through three quarters against Cleveland. The Pistons were up 12 heading into the fourth. Blake Griffin scored 26 points in his first game since a 50-point night against Philadelphia on Tuesday. Reggie Jackson added 16 points for the Pistons. Kyle Korver led Cleveland with 21 points.

NBA – Portis out 4-6 weeks
Bulls forward Bobby Portis will miss four to six weeks because of a moderately sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee. The fourth-year pro was averaging 10.5 points this season before his injury in Wednesday’s win over Charlotte. He joins a lengthy list of injured Bulls
players, including guard Kris Dunn, Lauri Markkanen and Denzel Valentine.

Toledo 51, WMU 24 – Toledo’s 3rd quarter keys 51-24 win over Western Michigan
Eli Peters replaced injured starter Mitchell Guadagni and threw three second-half touchdown passes to help Toledo beat Western Michigan 51-24 on Thursday night. Guadagni appeared to hurt his shoulder late in the second quarter and Peters opened the third with a 34-yard touchdown pass on a flea flicker to Reggie Gilliam for a 30-17 lead. Peters threw for 107 yards for Toledo (4-4, 2-2 Mid-American Conference). Freshman Kaleb Eleby threw for 293 yards and two touchdowns in his debut for Western Michigan (6-3, 4-1), which had its six-game winning streak snapped.

Blackhawks 4, Rangers 1 – Schmaltz makes key play as Blackhawks beat Rangers 4-1
Nick Schmaltz set up Alexandre Fortin’s tiebreaking goal in the second period, and the Chicago Blackhawks beat the New York Rangers 4-1 on Thursday night. Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews also scored as Chicago won for the third time in four games, continuing its surprising start. Alex DeBrincat had a goal and an assist, and Corey Crawford made 18 saves in his fourth game after suffering a concussion last year. New York lost for the third time in four games. Pavel Buchnevich scored in the opener of a four-game trip, and Henrik Lundqvist made 33 stops.

NHL – Foster to help Blackhawks for some morning skates
Scott Foster is going to help the Chicago Blackhawks at some optional morning skates after his memorable appearance as an emergency goaltender last season. Foster joined regular goalies Corey Crawford and Cam Ward for practice on Thursday morning before Chicago’s game against the New York Rangers.  Foster is part of a crew of recreational goaltenders who staff Chicago’s home
games in case of emergencies for either team. He was pressed into action March 29 against Winnipeg and stopped all seven shots he faced over the final 14 minutes of the Blackhawks’ 6-2 victory. The 36-year-old Foster, an accountant who played college hockey for Western Michigan, became a fan favorite after his successful NHL debut. He was honored at the NHL Awards show in Las Vegas, and the team also paid tribute to him at its fan convention.

MLB – No decision on Martinez
Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora says no decision has been made on whether slugger J.D. Martinez will start Game 3 of the World Series after serving as the club’s designated hitter Tuesday and Wednesday. Cora said Martinez got treatment for his sore ankle during Thursday’s travel day and would receive more on Friday. If Martinez plays the outfield Friday, Cora has ruled out using Mookie Betts at second base.

MLB – Detroit’s Coleman, Adduci and Kozma elect free agency
Tigers reliever Louis Coleman and infielders Jim Adduci and Pete Kozma have elected to become free agents after clearing waivers. The team said Thursday that those three players cleared waivers and were sent outright to Triple-A Toledo along with infielder Harold Castro. Coleman, Adduci and Kozma chose free agency. Tigers right-hander Artie Lewicki was claimed off waivers by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Coleman went 4-1 with a 3.51 ERA in 51 appearances for the Tigers this year.

Tennis – Wozniacki has rheumatoid arthritis
Former top-ranked women’s tennis player and reigning Australian Open champion Caroline Wozniacki says she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis ahead of this year’s U.S. Open. She made the announcement after being eliminated from the year-end competition following a 5-7, 7-5, 6-3 loss to Elina Svitolina in her third round-robin match at the WTA Finals.
