He allowed five hits and struck out eight without walking a batter. Melky Cabrera and Erik Gonzalez each drove in three runs for Cleveland, which expanded its divisional lead to five games over the Tigers. Artie Lewicki (0-2) took the loss, allowing three runs on six hits and a walk in five innings. He struck out four in his third major-league start. MLB – Zimmerman to make rehab start with West Michigan today
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Jordan Zimmerman continues his comeback from a right shoulder injury that has limited him to just seven starts in Detroit.  Zimmerman will take the mound tonight for the Tigers Single A affiliate, the West Michigan Whitecaps in a game against the South Bend Cubs.   Zimmerman has made two previous minor league rehab starts, both with Triple-A Toledo.  The Tigers are letting Zimmerman pitch for West Michigan since they are at home and Toledo is on the road.  If things go as planned, Zimmerman could return to the Tigers rotation next weekend.

NASCAR – Bowyer wins rain-shortened race at Michigan
Clint Bowyer won his second NASCAR Cup Series race of the season when Sunday’s event at Michigan was called early because of rain. Bowyer beat out Kevin Harvick on a restart to begin the third stage, and then the race went under caution when Ricky Stenhouse Jr. went into the wall. The rain put a stop to the race. Harvick was second, and pole winner Kurt Busch finished third, completing a sweep of the top three for Stewart-Haas Racing. Kyle Busch was fourth, the lone Toyota near the top in a race dominated by Ford.

Nneka Ogwumike added 16 points and eight rebounds, and Chelsea Gray scored 10 of her 15 points after the break for Los Angeles. The Sky (3-5) made 21 of 74 (28.4 percent) shots from the field and hit only one of their first 21 3-point attempts before making the last two when the game was out of reach. Cheyenne Parker had 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead Chicago. The Sky have lost five of six.

Liberty 78, Fever 75 – Coleman’s 3 lifts New York over winless Indiana 78-75
Marissa Coleman’s tiebreaking 3-pointer with 16.1 seconds left gave New York a 78-75 victory over the winless Indiana Fever on Sunday. With the game tied at 75, Coleman caught the ball on the wing and made the 3 against her former team. Coleman came to New York as a free agent in the offseason.   Indiana (0-8) had one last chance to tie it, but Kelsey Mitchell couldn’t get a good look from behind the arc and her shot fell short.  Mitchell finished with 19 points.  Indiana is off to the worst start in franchise history. The team lost its first five games in 2001 _ the franchise’s second season in existence.

Johnson shot a 4-under 66 for his second PGA Tour victory this year and 18th of his career to reclaim the No. 1 ranking he held for 64 straight weeks before dropping down a month ago. He won the event for the second time, finishing with the eagle, three birdies and a bogey for a 19-under 261 total. Golf – Champions – PGA Tour Champions in Iowa washed out, Tom Lehman wins
Second-round leader Tom Lehman has been declared the winner of the PGA Tour Champions event in Iowa after weather washed out Sunday’s final round. Principal Charity Classic officials had delayed the start of the third round by nearly five hours because of bands of lightning and persistent rain in central Iowa before calling the event. Lehman shot a 7-under 65 on Saturday to take a two-shot lead over Bernhard Langer, Glen Day, Woody Austin and Scott Parel.

Tennis – Nadal wins record-extending 11th French Open
Rafael Nadal has defeated Dominic Thiem (teem) 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 to win a record-extending 11th title at the French Open. Nadal becomes the second player in tennis history to win 11 singles titles at any Grand Slam tournament after Margaret Court, who claimed 11 Australian Open titles. MHSAA – Uzelac steps down as Benton Harbor football coach
Elliot Uzelac has resigned as football coach at Benton Harbor High School. He met with the team this past Friday to let them know of his decision.  Uzelac tells WSJM Sports that dealings with the Benton Harbor School Board lead to him stepping down. He sighted school board harassment of former athletic director Tray Crusciel and false accusations that forced him to also resign.  Uzelac also pointed out poor performance in the classroom that the acting superintendent, school board members, and school counselors claimed they were unaware of. He has information that shows that as of May 17, 2018, there were 1,116 grades of “F” recorded for the Benton Harbor High School student body, an average of three F’s per student. Under the current direction, several student athletes were not able to pass the required classes in order to be eligible.  He did want to thank those who made the recent success of the Benton Harbor Football team possible…

-his assistant coaches
-the “Tiger Moms”
-the booster club led by Dave Mack and Jeff Dorn
-all of the restaurants that provided food for the players
-donors that made financial contributions
-the Overflow Church members who provided great messages along with meals for the players.

Coach Uzelac sat down with Phil McDonald to further explain the situation and what led to his resignation. You can hear the conversation at wsjmsports.com.
