Denver Broncos 29, Green Bay Packers 10

Chiefs 45, Lions 10 – Smith, Chiefs run over Lions 45-10 at Wembley Stadium
Alex Smith threw for 145 yards and two touchdowns, and ran for 78 yards and a touchdown to lead the Kansas City Chiefs over the Detroit Lions 45-10 Sunday at Wembley Stadium. Smith scrambled his way through the Detroit defense for some big plays, including a career-high 49-yard run in the second quarter that set up his 12-yard touchdown run. The Chiefs (3-5) were playing at Wembley for the first time, while the Lions (1-7) played in London for the second straight season.  De’Anthony Thomas, Charcandrick West and Spencer Ware also rushed for touchdowns for the Chiefs. Thomas ended up with 100 total yards, while West ran for 97. Travis Kelce and Jeremy Maclin caught TD passes in the second half.

Vikings 23, Bears 20 – Peterson, Walsh lift Vikings over Bears 23-20
Adrian Peterson ran for 103 yards and Blair Walsh kicked a 36-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Minnesota Vikings to a 23-20 win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday. The Vikings had dropped seven straight at Soldier Field, and it looked like the streak would reach eight when Jay Cutler rolled to his right and plowed over safety Harrison Smith for a 4-yard touchdown with just under five minutes remaining. But two late scores lifted Minnesota (5-2) to its third straight win. Stefon Diggs turned a short pass into a 40-yard TD when he spun around Sherrick McManis and went up the left side, tying it with 1:49 left. After Chicago (2-5) punted, Teddy Bridgewater hit a leaping Charles Johnson for a 35-yard pass that put the ball on the 27. Two plays later Walsh booted the winner, pumping his right arm as the ball went through the uprights.

Broncos 29, Packers 10
The Denver Broncos beat previously unbeaten Green Bay 29-10 in the NFL’s fourth meeting of teams that were 6-0 or better. Peyton Manning threw for a season-high 340 yards on 21 of 29 attempts and Ronnie Hillman scored two TDs on the ground.

NCAA Football – Ohio State remains on the top
The first College Football Playoff rankings are coming out this Tuesday and with that in mind the newest Associated Press Top-25 poll looks much like last week’s. Ohio State, Baylor, Clemson and LSU remain the top four teams with TCU number-five. Ohio State, which suspended quarterback J.T. Barrett for this week’s game against Minnesota for being cited for operating a vehicle while impaired, was off Saturday and retained all 39 of its first-place votes. Baylor has six first-place votes after losing one this week but remains a solid No. 2. No. 3 Clemson also has six first-votes, No. 4 LSU has five and No. 5 TCU has four after picking up the vote Baylor lost. There’s a sizeable divide between the top five and the rest, with No. 6 Michigan State trailing the Horned Frogs by 87 points. The pairings for the four-team College Football Playoff will be revealed Dec. 6.

NCAA Football – Kelly describes sideline push of coach as internal matter
Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly said people who say he owes assistant strength coach David Grimes an apology for grabbing him and pushing him in the chest on the sideline to get him away from an official don’t know all that was involved.  When asked Sunday whether Kelly thought he owed Grimes an apology for what happened Saturday night, Kelly replied: “only those that are clearly near the situation and have all the information can make those judgments.”  Kelly wouldn’t say whether he had taken any action against Grimes, calling an internal personnel matter. Kelly had said in his postgame news conference he was worried Grimes was going to get the eighth-ranked Irish a 15-yard penalty during its 24-20 win over No. 23 Temple.  Grimes has been an assistant strength coach for Kelly since 2012 and was an Irish wide receiver from 2005-08.

NASCAR – Gordon wins Martinsville to earn spot in championship finale
Jeff Gordon will race for a fifth NASCAR championship in his final season, in large part because Matt Kenseth knocking out both of Roger Penske’s cars Sunday at Martinsville Speedway. Kenseth acted on his three-week grudge against Joey Logano by intentionally wrecking Logano as Logano tried to win for the fourth consecutive time in NASCAR’s playoffs. The act knocked Logano out of a race he had dominated and handed the win to Gordon. Gordon picked up his first victory of the season _ ninth at Martinsville _ and first in 39 races. The four-time NASCAR champion had to earn the win after a caution with seven laps remaining set up one final restart. Gordon held off Jamie McMurray over the final two laps.
