Coleman’s goal was set up by Tyler Johnson, who also scored, on a 2-on-1 rush to extend the defending Stanley Cup champions season-high point streak to nine games. Detroit’s Dylan Larkin had a tiebreaking goal midway through the second period and Erik Cernak pulled Tampa Bay into a 3-all tie in the third. Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 20 shots for the Central Division-leading Lightning. Thomas Greiss made 25 saves for the last-place Red Wings.

Stars 6, Blackhawks 1 – Stars score early and often to dominate Blackhawks 6-1

Joe Pavelski got his team-high 13th goal for the Stars. Roope Hintz and defensemen Jamie Oleksiak, John Klingberg and Esa Lindell also scored. Dallas has won two of its last three games after losing four straight. Mattias Janmark scored against his former team for Chicago, which has allowed 12 goals over two consecutive losses. Blackhawks star Patrick Kane played in his 1,000th NHL game.

NHL – AP sources: NHL reaches 7-year agreement with ESPN
The National Hockey League will return to ESPN beginning next season. People familiar with the deal say the two sides have reached agreement on a seven-year contract that will include four Stanley Cup finals. They spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the contract has not been finalized. ESPN and the NHL had no comment. ESPN last had NHL rights in 2004. Since then, NBC has been the league’s national broadcast partner. The league will air on multiple networks in its next agreement and NBC is still among the bidders for the other part of the deal.

MLB – Now in Chisox ‘pen, Kopech makes debut after 2020 opt-out
Michael Kopech is getting used to his new relief role with the Chicago White Sox. Judging by his first Cactus League appearance, it looks like he’s going to be just fine. The talented right-hander worked a perfect fourth inning Tuesday against San Diego. It was his first game since he opted out of the pandemic-shortened season for a variety of reasons, including concerns about his mental health. The 24-year-old Kopech, one of baseball’s top pitching prospects, was a starter coming up through the minors and likely will return to Chicago’s rotation at some point. But he is expected to begin the year in the White Sox bullpen.

MLB – Cubs Strop returns over COVID protocol violations
Chicago Cubs reliever Pedro Strop has returned to training camp after he was kept away for a couple days for violating baseball’s COVID-19 protocols. The team said Sunday that Strop was being kept away from his teammates, and that Major League Baseball will decide when he is allowed to rejoin the team. It has confirmed Strop’s return. The 35-year-old Strop is in camp on a minor league deal. He is trying to make it back to the majors after a tough season last year.

NFL – Bears put the tag on Robinson
The Chicago Bears have placed the franchise tag on star receiver Allen Robinson, setting up a potential messy situation with their most consistent playmaker on offense. The sides have until July 15 to reach a multiyear deal. Otherwise, he would play next season for approximately $16.4 million assuming he signs.

NFL – Lions sign WR Williams
The Detroit Lions have signed Tyrell Williams, adding much-needed depth at wide receiver with a player they hope can stay healthy. The Lions made the move Tuesday. Detroit’s top receivers from last season are free agents.

NCAAFB – Ohio State pauses workouts
Ohio State has halted football team workouts for a week because of an increase in positive COVID-19 tests within the program.  The school said Tuesday that team activities would pause and administrative offices in the Woody Hayes Athletic Center would close “out of an abundance of caution and with the health, safety and well-being of the student-athletes, coaches and football and facility support staff as the highest priority.”  The Buckeyes are scheduled to open spring practice on March 19.
