MEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL

Notre Dame 110, Detroit Mercy 71
Reserve Dane Goodwin scored a career-high 27 points, T.J. Gibbs had 18 points and eight assists and John Mooney and Prentiss Hubb each had double-doubles as Notre Dame broke a two-game losing streak with a 110-71 victory over beleaguered Detroit Mercy. Mike Brey’s Fighting Irish (7-3), who had six players in double figures, had a program-tying 33 assists on their 41 baskets as they reached the century mark for the first time since a 100-74 victory over Jacksonville last season.

Bulls forward Otto Porter Jr. will miss at least another month because of a broken left foot that was initially diagnosed as a bruise. The Bulls said the injury was confirmed by Dr. Bob Anderson, a foot and ankle specialist who examined him Monday. The team said the small fracture became clear after repeated imaging over the past five weeks, and Porter will be re-evaluated in four weeks. He suffered the injury against Atlanta on Nov. 6.

 

NHL

The Golden Knights scored five unanswered goals between the 2nd & 3rd periods and Marc-Andre Fleury made 28 saves in his return to the lineup as Vegas beat the Blackhawks 5-1. It was Fleury’s first game in net since the death of his father, André. Reilly Smith, Deryk Engelland, William Karlsson, Max Pacioretty and Ryan Reaves scored for the Golden Knights. Dominik Kubalik scored Chicago’s lone goal with :27 left in the game

Winnipeg 5,  Detroit 1
Blake Wheeler, Andrew Copp and Patrik Laine scored in a two-minute span in the second period as Winnipeg dealt the Red Wings their 12th straight loss, 5-1. Adam Lowry and Mark Scheifele also scored for the Jets. Christoffer Ehn scored his first goal of the season in the loss for Detroit.

The Lions have put wide receiver Marvin Jones on injured reserve with an ankle injury. Detroit also signed defensive tackle Frank Herron to their active roster from the Miami Dolphins’ practice squad. The Lions have lost six straight games and nine of their last ten.
