Van Buren/Cass Female Student Athlete Of The Year

Clare Lycan
Lawton High School
Clare Lycan of Lawton High School is the WSJM Sports Van Buren/Cass Female Student Athlete of the Year.
In the fall, Clare was a leader in cross country and volleyball. In cross country, she earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors and qualified for the State Finals. Her overall efforts helped the Blue Devils earn Academic All-State honors. In volleyball, she was team captain, received the team MVP, Best Blocker, and Co-Best Killer awards, and earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors.
In basketball, she was selected as team captain. She was the team’s top scorer, and led the Blue Devils to the District Finals.
In track, she made a 4th straight trip to the State Finals, qualifying for the 300 Meter Hurdles, Long Jump, and 4×100 Meter Relay, earning All-State honors. She was Regional Runner-Up in the Long Jump and 4×100 Meter Relay. She won SAC Valley Division championships in the Long Jump and 4×100 Meter Relay. During the season, she won championships in the Long Jump, 200 Meter Dash, 100 Meter Hurdles, and 4×100 Meter Relay.
Clare is a member of the National Honor Society and carried a 3.95 grade point average.
Clare is the daughter of Kelly and Nicole Lycan of Lawton.
