Veronica Bell of Decatur High School Track is our WSJM Sports Van Buren/Cass Student Athlete of the Week for the weeks of April 22, 2018.
At the Colon Invitational, Veronica won the 800 Meter and 1600 Meter Runs, and ran a leg for the second place 3200 Meter Relay team. She followed that up by winning the 800 and 1600 Meter Runs against Mendon and Eau Claire. She then won the 1600 Meter Run against White Pigeon. She ended the week by placing 6th in the 800 Meter Run at the Schoolcraft Invitational with a personal best time of 2:43.98.
Veronica has also been a member of the Decatur cross country, basketball, and wrestling teams. In the classroom, she carries a 3.7 grade point average.
Veronica is the daughter of Ron and Amy Bell of Decatur.
Other finalists for the week were Anna Bocock of South Haven softball and Anthony Hicks of Decatur track.
