Lucas Withers of Howardsville Christian High School Baseball is our WSJM Sports Van Buren/Cass Student Athlete of the Week for the weeks of April 8, 2018.
Lucas helped lead the Eagles to doubleheader sweeps of Marcellus and White Pigeon. In one of the wins against Marcellus, Lucas earned the win on the mound, striking out 17 batters in 5.2 innings while allowing just three hits. At the plate, he went a combined 3 for 7 with four walks.
Lucas is also a member of the Howardsville Christian soccer and basketball teams. In the classroom, he carries a 3.9 grade point average.
Another finalist for the week was Valerie Norris of Lawrence softball.
