Boys Basketball
Battle Creek Harper Creek 53, St. Joseph 50
St. Joe dropped its season opener, falling to Harper Creek 53-50.  The Bears built an 11 point second quarter lead, only to see the Beavers rally to take a four point lead at the half behind the hot shooting of Jeremiah Davis.  St. Joe got 12 points apiece from Javione Ballard and Sam Szwabowski.  Davis passed Harper Creek with a game high 21.

Lakeshore 68, South Haven 47
Lakeshore jumped out to a 15-0 lead after the first quarter and went on to beat South Haven 68-47 in the season opener for both teams.  Seniors Braden Burke and Logan Steffes had 18 points apiece to lead Lakeshore.  Game high honors went to South Haven’s Jerome Mahone who came off the bench to score 19.

Lawrence 56, Michigan Lutheran 39
Hunter Coombs had a game high 20 points for Lawrence as the Tigers beat Michigan Lutheran 56-39.  Lawrence outscored Lutheran 14-2 after the first quarter and took an 28-18 lead into the half.

St. Joe had three players score in double figures as the Lady Bears blew out Berrien Springs 67-28.  Shelby Madison and Anna Fischer each had 12 point, while Katie Algyre added 11 for the 3-0 Bears

Michigan Lutheran 42, Lawrence 26
Emily Witkowski led the Titans attack with a game best 20 points as Michigan Lutheran defeated Lawrence 42-26.  Erika Rosenbaum added a dozen for the 3-0 Titans.  Mara Carter had 14 for Lawrence.
