TUESDAY’S RESULTS

BASEBALL
Mattawan 11, St. Joe 0 – Game 1
Carson Byers and Layne Holmes combined to pitch five no-hit innings for Mattawan, with Byers getting the win.
Mattawan 9, St. Joe 2 – Game 2
The Wildcats scored five runs in the 1st inning and the Bears were never able to make it up. Carson Byers drove in three runs for Mattawan. Benson Holleman drove in both runs for St. Joe.

 

Kalamazoo Central 6, Watervliet 2 – Game 1
Watervliet took a 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning, but Central responded with four runs in the 4th inning and two in the 5th to pull it out. Bryron Cockrun and Frankie Alfarano both doubled in the loss for the Panthers.
Kalamazoo Central 8, Watervliet 5 – Game 2
With Watervliet leading 5-4, the Maroon Giants scored rallied with four runs in the 7th inning to win it. Wyatt Epple finished with three hits in the loss for Watervliet with Evan Hitchins, Andrew Chisek, Chase Tremblay, and Tyson Williams each adding two.

 

Berrien Springs 14, Comstock 0 – Game 1
An eight run 3rd inning for the Shamrocks put the game away.
Berrien Springs 18, Comstock 0 – Game 2
The Shamrocks pushed runs across in every inning, starting with a three run 1st inning.

 

Buchanan 4, Brandywine 1 – Game 1
Jack Branch went the distance, striking out 12, in picking up the win for the Bucks. Branch, Matthew Hoover, and Macoy West each drove in runs for Buchanan.
Buchanan 10, Brandywine 0 – Game 2
Already leading 1-0, the Bucks put the game away with a five run 3rd inning. Murphy Wegner drove in two runs. Matthew Hoover allowed just two hits and struck out ten over six innings in picking up the win.

 

Niles 1, South Haven 0 – Game 1 (8 innings)
Jude Abbadessa and Jadon Hainey combined to throw a no-hitter for Niles, with Hainey picking up the win. The Vikings eventually scored in the top of the 8th inning to win it.
Niles 6, South Haven 0 – Game 2
Drew Racht went the distance, allowing just four hits while striking out four in picking up the win for Niles.

SOFTBALL
Michigan Lutheran 19, Howardsville Christian 7 – Game 1
The Titans put the game away early with ten runs in the 1st inning. Alexia Tobias and Mikayla La Bounty both collected three hits for Lutheran. Hannah Tahaney struck out ten over five innings in picking up the win.
Michigan Lutheran 10, Howardsville Christian 3 – Game 1
Leading 2-0, the Titans closed with three runs in the 6th inning and five in the 7th to secure the win. At the plate, Abi Marquis finished with two hits and two RBIs. Hannah Tahaney picked up the complete game victory in the circle, striking out seven.

 

New Buffalo 16, Eau Claire 1 – Game 1
The Bison opened the game with a seven run 1st inning. Libby Lamport, Laura Wamser, and Aaron James each collected two hits for New Buffalo. Wamser also drove in three runs. Eau Claire was limited to one hit offensively.
New Buffalo 14, Eau Claire 2 – Game 2
The Bison broke the game open with an eight run 2nd inning. Ava Mullen finished with three hits and five RBIs. Becca Matthews went 1-3 at the plate with an RBI in the loss for Eau Claire.

 

Buchanan 18, Brandywine 1 – Game 1
Already leading 10-1, the Bucks scored eight runs in the 5th inning to bring an early end to the game. Buchanan got triples from Brooke Atkinson and Hailee Kara, and doubles from Sophia Lozmack and Sage Pruett. Lozmack recorded 12 strikeouts in picking up the win in the circle.
Buchanan 18, Brandywine 5 – Game 2
The Bucks were powered by Hannah Herman’s three home runs. Hailee Kara earned the win in the circle. The wins improve Buchanan to 24-3 on the season.

 

Niles 13, South Haven 4 – Game 1
The Vikings broke the game open with six runs in the 3rd inning. Alley Woodall drove in two runs in the loss for South Haven.
Niles 9, South Haven 2 – Game 2
The Vikings scored four runs in the 1st inning and never looked back. Kamryn Holland and Erin Schneider both had a single and a double in the loss for the Rams.

 

River Valley 17, Lawrence 1 – Game 1
The Mustangs opened the game with 12 runs in the 1st inning. Macey Springer collected two hits and four RBIs to lead River Valley offensively. Alexis McCarty struck out five over 2.2 innings to pick up the win in the circle.
River Valley 14, Lawrence 0 – Game 2
Macey Springer threw five no-hit innings and struck out 14 in earning the win for River Valley. Offensively, Emily Reitz drove in four runs. Hanah Lynch added three hits and three RBIs.
