Earlier this week, Niles Community Schools announced that they are leaving the Southwest Michigan Athletic Conference to join the BCS Conference. Word was expected by the end of the week that South Haven would also look to change athletic conferences. That has now been made official.

The South Haven School Board voted last week to officially withdraw from the Wolverine Conference. The conference leadership meets in October at their Board of Governors meeting and at that point it will likely be a done deal. South Haven Athletic Director Adam Verseput says the Rams have requested to be taken off of Wolverine Conference schedules after this school year.

South Haven has also submitted a letter of application to the BCS Conference. Since the BCS has actively recruited the Rams, Verseput says South Haven’s application is just a formality.
