MSU Set To Add To Its Defensive Coaching Staff

Fox Sports is reporting that Michigan State is expected to hire former Texas A&M defensive coordinator Mark Snyder to fill a spot on its defensive staff.

Coach Mark Dantonio said earlier this week he planned to hire an assistant coach who could work with the front seven of his defense, linemen and linebackers, that was also well-versed in special teams.  Snyder certainly fits the bill, as he has an extensive coaching background that includes nine years as an assistant in the Big Ten, from 1996-2004 at Minnesota and Ohio State.

The Spartans promoted secondary coach Harlon Barnett and linebackers coach Mike Tressel to co-defensive coordinator positions when defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi was hired as Pitt’s head coach.
Barnett was also named MSU’s assistant head coach.
