Vikings 19, Lions 17 – Vikings survive Lions rally 19-17 on Joseph FG at final gun
Greg Joseph made a 54-yard field goal as time expired to give the Minnesota Vikings a 19-17 victory over the winless Lions. Detroit scored the go-ahead 2-point conversion try with 37 seconds left. Joseph made four field goals as the Vikings casually played the field position game until the extra-safe strategy nearly cost them. Alexander Mattison fumbled on a third-and-7 run from the Minnesota 21 right after the 2-minute warning with Detroit out of timeouts. The Lions took the lead on a TD and Campbell’s gamble.

Bears 20, Raiders 9 – Fields throws 1st TD pass, Bears’ defense dominates in Vegas
Justin Fields threw his first career touchdown pass, and the Chicago Bears’ defense largely shut down the Las Vegas Raiders’ high-powered offense in a 20-9 victory. Damien Williams rushed for a touchdown in the Las Vegas debut for the Bears. Derek Carr passed for 206 yards and Josh Jacobs rushed for a late touchdown in the second straight loss for the Raiders. The Bears’ 32nd-ranked offense managed just 252 yards, but Chicago’s defense allowed just three points in the first 50 minutes and held Vegas to 259 yards. Derek Carr passed for 206 yards for the Raiders.

That gave the Lions a one-point lead. The Vikings then moved in position for the winning field goal on the final play for a 19-17 victory. A Michigan State University football player has filed a lawsuit alleging the school was wrong to suspend him from the team indefinitely while it investigates sexual assault allegations from January. The federal lawsuit filed Friday identifies the player only as John Doe. It alleges Michigan State has been unresponsive to his demands for reinstatement while the school’s investigation and grievance process under federal Title IX rules are completed. The suit alleges that the university breached its contractual obligations to the sophomore who’s on a full scholarship and discriminated against him because of his gender. A Michigan State spokesman declined to comment.
