Landyn VanWyk – Van Buren/Cass Student Athlete of the Week

Landyn VanWyk of Lawton High School Wrestling is our WSJM Sports Van Buren/Cass Student Athlete of the Week for the weeks of December 22, December 29, and January 6.

Over the three week period, Landyn went 4-1 at the Gull Lake Invitational including a win over state ranked Nico Martinez. He then went 4-1 at the Bryan Sosinski Invitational and followed that up with winning an individual title at the Climax-Scotts Invitational. Landyn then went 2-0 at a SAC dual, including a 10-4 win over 10th ranked Ian Ismael. He wrapped up the three week period by winning and individual title at the Three Rivers Invitational, including a 7-3 decision over 5th ranked Hunter Heath. Also at the Three Rivers Invitational, Landyn recorded his 150th high school career win.

Landyn is also a member of the Lawton Soccer team and the National Honor Society. In the classroom, he carries a 3.8 grade point average,

Landyn is the son of Derek and Kelly VanWyk of Paw Paw.

Other finalists for the week were Regan Rose of Decatur Basketball and Trevor Winkel of South Haven Wrestling.
