Denny Dock has retired as Lakeshore High School Football Coach for, what he said, the second and final time.

It was a tough fall season for high school athletics with COVID-19 protocols. “We went through a lot this year,” Dock said as he commended his team on their efforts and accomplishments.

He looked back and said, “We had a very good year.” He highlighted beating St. Joe twice and going on to win the District Championship.

In a statement to his players, Dock wished them luck in their upcoming sports and urged them to keep doing a good job in the classroom.

“My retirement is not a direct result of Lakeshore’s withdrawal from the state tournament,” he said, “but more for the sake of my physical and mental health.”  Dock has been contemplating the move for quite some time saying, “Far more evident to me than ever before is that the head football coach is a year-round position. Coaching two varsity sports at the level I expect of myself is almost impossible.”  He will be staying on as head coach of the Lancer Softball team.

Dock ends his football coaching career with an overall record of 269-81 at Hartford, Dowagiac, and Lakeshore. He finished 215-69 at Lakeshore.
