Joe Furlan – Van Buren/Cass Student Athlete Of The Week

Joe Furlan of Bloomingdale High School Cross Country is our WSJM Sports Van Buren/Cass Student Athlete of the Week for the week of September 1, 2019.

Joe opened the season by winning the 11 team Bridgman Invitational with a time of 17:25.1, :20 ahead of the second place finisher. He followed that up by winning the eight team Hartford Bob Teske Invitational with a time of 17:07.8, :17 ahead of the second place finisher. Last year, he earned Academic All-State honors.

Joe is also a member of the Bloomingdale Track team and serves as a Columbia Township volunteer firefighter. In the classroom, he carries a 3.4 grade point average.

Joe is the son of John and Julie Furlan of Grand Junction.

Other finalists for the week were Andy Stermer of Lawton Soccer and Mallory Dorow of South Haven Volleyball.
