Javond Ball of Niles High School Football is the WSJM Sports Berrien County Student Athlete of the Week for the week of September 15, 2019. Javond rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries as he helped lead the Vikings to a 28-7 win over Mattawan. On defense, he finished with five tackles and an interception.
Javond is also a state qualifier for the Niles Wrestling team and a state runner-up in Track. In the classroom, he carries a 3.4 grade point average.
Javond is the son of Janet Andrews and Jermond Ball of Niles.
Other finalists for the week were Jacob Scouler of St. Joe Soccer, Seth Walters of St. Joe Soccer, and Don Smith of Watervliet Football.
