SOCCER
Soccer2Gull Lake 2, Lakeshore 1
Second ranked Gull Lake escaped with a 2-1 win at Lakeshore. Lindsay Ebeling gave the Lancers an early 1-0 lead, but the Blue Devils countered with goals from Libby VanderMolen and Riley Wisser. The loss drops Lakeshore to 9-1-1 on the season.

St. Joe 8, Battle Creek Central 0
Alyssa Berry, Shivani Jain, and Dominique Thomas each scored twice as St. Joe blanked Battle Creek Central 8-0. Jessie Armstrong assisted on three of the eight goals as the Bears improved to 6-2-1 on the season.

Michigan Lutheran 4, Brandywine 1
Hailey Maas led Michigan Lutheran to a 4-1 win over Brandywine. Maas finished with three goals on the night. Emily Witkowski added the fourth Titan goal. Lutheran ended with 22 shots on goal compared to the Bobcats’ 12. Sarah Jackemeyer collected 12 saves in goal for the Titans.

Coloma 3, Dowagiac 2 – shootout
Coloma pulled out a 3-2 win over Dowagiac in a shootout. With the game tied a two, neither team was able to score in two overtimes. Ashley Sipla scored Coloma’s two regulation goals and scored the first shootout goal. Emma Tavolacci scored the game winner for the Comets. Keeper Tristen Howard made three critical saves to help secure the win.

Bridgman 2, New Buffalo 1
Mary Wheeler and Lauren Keller each had goals and Katie Hartzler turned in two assists as Bridgman beat New Buffalo 2-1. Lauren Cawley scored for New Buffalo.

Kalamazoo Central 9, Niles 1
Kalamazoo Central defeated Niles 9-1. The Maroon Giants started strong, opening up a 4-0 lead at the half. Central finished with 28 shots on goal.

St. Joe 8, Dowagiac 3
St. Joe swept a non-conference doubleheader from Dowagiac. The Bears plated five runs in the 1st inning on their way to an 11-1 win in game one.
St. Joe pounded out ten hits in game two in an 8-3 win over the Chieftains.

Watervliet 12, Lawton 2
Watervliet 15, Lawton 2
An eight run 5th inning led Watervliet to a 12-2 win over Lawton in game one. Ashton Holdridge picked up the win on the mound for the Panthers.
Watervliet knocked out 15 hit in game two in a 15-2 win over the Blue Devils. Jeff Allen collected three of the 15 Panther hits. Brandin Legon pitched five solid innings for the win as Watervliet improves to 10-4 on the season and 4-0 in the SAC South.

Cassopolis 8, Michigan Lutheran 3
Cassopolis 13, Michigan Lutheran 11 (suspended)
Cassopolis erupted for four runs in the 5th inning to pull out an 8-3 win over Michigan Lutheran in game one of their doubleheader. Game two was suspended after five innings with Cassopolis leading 13-11.

Three Rivers 10, Berrien Springs 0
Three Rivers 9, Berrien Springs 7
Andrew Bowers tossed a no-hitter to lead Three Rivers to a 10-0 win over Berrien Springs in game one of their doubleheader. The Wildcats started strong at the plate, scoring five runs in the 1st inning.
Three Rivers went on to take game two 9-7 to complete the sweep. Despite doubles from Brian Engler and Tannor Rago and a pair of singles from Brian Shembarger, the Shamrocks couldn’t overcome eight runs in the first two innings for the Wildcats.

Lawrence 12, Marcellus 1
Lawrence 10, Marcellus 0
Matt Cammire turned in a single, three doubles, and four RBIs to lead Lawrence to a 12-1 win over Marcellus in game one. Larry Glista picked up the win on the mound for the Tigers.
Game two went to Lawrence 10-0. Derek Gribler collected two triples and a single for the Tigers. Hunter Coombs allowed just three hits to pick up the win.

Gobles 5, Bangor 0
Gobles 16, Bangor 0
Gobles swept their doubleheader with Bangor. In game one, the Tigers collected ten hits in a 5-0 win. Trevor Rigney struck out ten in seven innings to pick up the win.
Gobles went on to win game two 16-0. Cody Schafer went 3-3 at the plate with three RBIs. Tyler Fuhrman also drove in three runs for the Tigers. Tyler Hunt struck out 12 in four innings for the win.

Saugatuck 7, Fennville 3
Saugatuck 14, Fennville 0
Blake Dunn, Nick Putzke, and Alex Kruithof each collected two hits in leading Saugatuck to a 7-3 win over Fennville in game one. The Indians scored three runs in the 6th inning to pull away for the win.
In game two, Blake Dunn allowed just two hits while striking out ten as Saugatuck blanked Fennville 14-0.

 

SOFTBALL
Watervliet 14, Lawton 0
Watervliet 16, Lawton 0
Watervliet got a homerun, double and single from Cali McLean in a 14-0 win over Lawton in game one of their doubleheader. Kara Liles also went 4-4 at the plate for the Panthers while Mercedes Daugherty added two triples.
The Watervliet offense continued to roll in a 16-0 win in game two. Mercedes Daugherty collected five RBIs for the Panthers.

Three Rivers 12, Berrien Springs 2
Three Rivers 16, Berrien Springs 1
Berrien Springs fell to Three Rivers twice. In game one, the Wildcats scored six runs in the 2nd inning on their way to a 12-2 win over the Shamrocks. Carlie Elliott homered for Berrien Springs.
Three Rivers captured game two 16-1. The Wildcats plated five runs in the 2nd and 11 runs in the 3rd.
