THURSDAY’S RESULTS

BASEBALL
Mattawan 10, Lakeshore 0 – Game 1
Cam Byers picked up the win on the mound for the Wildcats, limiting the Lancers to just one hit.
Lakeshore 16, Mattawan 6 – Game 2

Portage Northern 7, St. Joe 3 – Game 1
The Bears took a 3-0 lead in the top of the 1st innings, but the Huskies responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning on their way to scoring seven unanswered runs over five innings. Nicholas Polk drove in two runs in the loss for St. Joe.
Portage Northern 6, St. Joe 4 – Game 2
Trailing 6-3, St. Joe scored a run in the top of the 7th inning, but the comeback bid fell short. Carter Vonk drove in two runs for St. Joe with Jacob Halsey also collecting one RBI.

 

Buchanan 8, South Haven 2 – Game 1
Already leading 3-0, the Bucks broke the game open with five runs in the 6th inning. Jack Branch limited South Haven to just two hits in picking up the win. At the plate for Buchanan, Macoy West homered and Cade Preissing had two doubles.
Buchanan 10, South Haven 0 – Game 2
Matthew Hoover tossed a no-hitter on the mound and struck out 17 in helping the Bucks improve to 10-1 on the season. At the plate, he went 3-4 with two RBIs. Buchanan also got three RBIs from Macoy West.

 

Decatur 16, Hartford 1 – Game 1
The Raiders came out of the gate with a three run 1st inning and kept rolling from there. Brandon Bruno pitched three no-hit scoreless innings in picking up the win. At the plate, he went 3-3 and scored three runs. Also offensively for Decatur, Andrew Confer went 2-4 with four RBIs, and Gavin Boodt went 2-4 with three RBIs.
Hartford 14, Decatur 9 – Game 2
Trailing 8-5, Hartford rallied with five runs in the 5th inning and four in the 6th. Brandon Bruno went 2-3 at the plate with two RBIs in the loss for Decatur.

SOFTBALL
Lakeshore 10, Mattawan 7 – Game 1
The Lancers set the tone early with a four run 1st inning. The Wildcats battled back, but Olivia DenDooven put Lakeshore ahead for good with an RBI single in the 6th. The Lancers also got a homerun from Olivia Bell.
Lakeshore 18, Mattawan 4 – Game 2
The Lancers erupted with 11 runs in the second inning to cruise to the doubleheader sweep. Pallas Dominion scattered three hits for Lakeshore, two doubles and a homerun, and drove in four runs. Jossalyn Schmaltz also collected four RBIs for the Lancers.

 

Watervliet 14, Martin 0 – Game 1
The Panthers opened the game with a seven run 1st inning and added another seven runs in the 5th. Grace Chisek led Watervliet at the plate with three hits, including a homerun. Hannah Hart allowed just three hits in picking up the win.
Watervliet 17, Martin 2 – Game 2
With the game tied at two, Watervliet plated seven runs in the 2nd inning and eight runs in the 3rd to bring an early end to the game. Samantha Deitz collected three hits for the Panthers with Haiden Edelberg, Grace Chisek and Addy Riley each finishing with two. Jaylie Querfurth earned the win in the circle.

 

Buchanan 4, South Haven 2 – Game 1
Sophia Lozmack earned the win in the circle for the Bucks. At the plate for Buchanan, Hannah Tompkins and Alea Fisher each collected a double.
Buchanan 14, South Haven 2 – Game 2
The Bucks scored three runs in the 1st inning, three in the 2nd, and put the game away with a seven run 3rd. Sophia Lozmack and Sara Faulkner both tripled for Buchanan with Alea Fisher turning in a double. Hailee Kara picked up the win in the circle.

 

Decatur 2, Hartford 1 – Game 1 (8 inn.)
With the game tied 1-1 in the bottom of the 8th inning, Breanna Franks tripled for Decatur and then Cecelia Conforti drove her in with a deep single. Conforti drove in both runs for the Raiders. In the circle, she struck out 16 in picking up the win.
Hartford 3, Decatur 2 – Game 2
The Indians scattered six hits in game two to take game two and earn the doubleheader split.
