Friday’s MHSAA Boys Basketball District Finals

Division 2 at Niles
Niles 65, Benton Harbor 61

  • Niles picked up the school’s first district championship since 2012 with a 65-61 upset win over top seed Benton Harbor.  Mike Phillips had 31 points to lead Niles while Jayson Johnson had 14.  Grant Gondrezick II had 24 points to lead the Tigers, while Brian Gillespie had 15.   Niles advanced to face Grand Rapids South Christian in Monday’s regional semifinal at 5:30 at Vicksburg.

Brandywine 42, Watervliet 36

  • Brandywine overcame a 17-0 run by Watervliet to start the second half and rallied for a 42-36 win to win the Division 3 District Championship. Jeremiah Palmer had 17 points to lead Brandywine.  Brandywine will face Kalamazoo Hackett at 5:30 on Monday at Coloma High School in the Regional Semifinals.

Division 3 at Hartford
Lawton 59, Hartford 36

  • Luke Leighton and Aiden O’Brien each had 13 points to lead Lawton over Hartford 59-36.  Lawton will face Centreville in the 7 p.m. game at Coloma High School

Division 4 at Our Lady of the Lake
Eau Claire 56, Michigan Lutheran 48

  • Eau Claire’s Demarion Travis scored a game high 24 points as the Beavers defeated Michigan Lutheran 56-48 in the Division 4 District Championship game at Our Lady of the Lake. Landon Baskins added 12 for Eau Claire. Isaiah Gill led the Titans with 19 points.   Eau Claire will face Kalamazoo Phoenix on Monday at 5:30 in the Regional Semifinals at Bellevue.

Division 4 at Lawrence
Lawrence 47, Marcellus 44

  • Ben McCaw led Lawrence with 15 points and Tim Coombs had 11 as Lawrence defeated Marcellus 47-44.  The Tigers will face Colon in Monday’s regional semifinals at Bellevue at 7:00.
