Former Bear Critical Of QB Cutler

Former Chicago Bears Linebacker Brian Urlacher says the only thing “elite” about current quarterback Jay Cutler is salary.

Earlier this week, General Manager Phil Emery said he felt Cutler was an elite quarterback based on his winning percentage.  Cutler is 59-52 as a starter.  When asked about Emery’s assessment, Urlacher said Cutler is an elite player in the NFL financially, but hasn’t performed like one.  He went on to explain that the Bears have the receivers and offensive line to make him successful, but adds, they just can’t get it together.

Cutler is the NFL’s highest paid quarterback this season with a base salary of $22.5 million.  That is part of a seven-year, $126.7 million contract extension he signed earlier this year.
