Buchanan shortstop Cade Preissing scored in the 3rd, 5th, and 7th innings, to tie, take the lead, and add an insurance run for the Bucks in a 3-1 win over Detroit Edison to win the MHSAA Division 3 Baseball State Championship.  Preissing scored on an RBI double from Matthew Hoover in the 3rd, Hoover again would drive in Preissing again with an RBI double in the 5th.  Macoy West would drive in Preissing in the 7th on a single giving the Bucks the final margin. Things got close for Edison in the bottom of the 7th as the Pioneers loaded the bases, but West struck out Edison’s Caleb Sanders on a full count to end it.  The win is the first state championship for Buchanan baseball since 1985.  It also closed out the 2021-22 high school sports season across the state of Michigan.
