This year’s Associated Press boys’ high school basketball Division 2 All-State honors…

 

FIRST TEAM ALL-STATE
Carlos Johnson, Benton Harbor, Sr. (Player of the Year)
Scooby Johnson, who also was named Mr. Basketball award, finished his high school career averaging 25 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals per game. Johnson, a 6-foot-6 forward, will play for Butler next season after leading Benton Harbor to the No. 1 ranking in the Division 2 poll. Johnson finished off his career with a clean sweep, earning first team all-state honors all four seasons.

Quindarius Davis, Benton Harbor, Sr.
Quindarius Davis was the defensive stopper for a 20-2 Benton Harbor team that finished the season ranked No. 1 in the state in Division 2. The 5-foot-11 point guard averaged 16 points, 3 assists and 3 steals per game.

Charlie Woodhams, Otsego, Sr.
Charlie Woodhams led Otsego to a 21-1 record, averaging 23.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game. The 6-foot-4 guard has signed to play for Hillsdale.

COACH OF THE YEAR
Gary Barns, Goodrich
In his 29th season as the head coach and 41st overall with the Goodrich basketball program, Barns led the Martians to a 21-1 record and No. 2 ranking in Division 2 in the state. Barns is 421-186 in his career, third on the Flint area coaching career victory list behind Flint Northwestern’s Grover Kirkland and Flint Hamady’s Archy Robinson. Barns has led Goodrich to the state semifinals twice and needs two more wins to move into second place on the Flint area’s career wins list.
