Derek Plitt of Coloma High School Track is the WSJM Sports Berrien County Student Athlete of the Week for the week of May 27, 2018. At the State Finals, he anchored the 4×200 Meter Relay team that won the state title with a new school record time of 1:28.61. He ran a leg for the second place 4×400 Meter Relay team that also broke a school record with a time of 3:25.35. He also ran a leg for the 10th place 4×100 Meter Relay team that also set a new school record with a time of :44.52.
Derek was also a member of the football and soccer teams, and band. In the classroom, he’s graduating with a 3.74 grade point average.
Derek is the son of David and Betty Plitt of Coloma.
Other finalists for the week were Katie Sullivan and Maggie Tidey of Lake Michigan Catholic Soccer.
