Benton Harbor Brings Down #1 River Rouge

Benton Harbor 72, River Rouge 62
In a battle of Division 2 powers, third ranked Benton Harbor knocked off top ranked River Rouge 72-62 Saturday night at Farnum Gym.

With River Rouge leading 14-11 after the first quarter, the Tigers went on to outscore the Panthers 23-6 in the second to take a 34-20 halftime lead. After the intermission, the closest the Panthers could get is eight points as the Benton Harbor defense continually turned them away.

Carlos Johnson led Benton Harbor with a game high 21 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and one blocked shot. Chris Conway added 17 points, six rebounds, an assist, and solid defensive play. Justin Brown finished with 15 points, three rebounds, one assist, and two blocked shots. River Rouge got 18 points from Kamal Hadden.
