Dodgers 4, Cubs 1 – Turner’s 3-run shot in 9th gives Dodgers 4-1 win over Cubs
Justin Turner hit a three-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Chicago Cubs 4-1 on Sunday to take a 2-0 lead in the NL Championship Series. Turner drove in every run for Los Angeles, getting an early RBI single before sending a long shot to center off John Lackey in the ninth. A fan wearing a blue Dodgers shirt reached over a railing to catch the ball on the fly. Turner’s second homer of the postseason ended another dramatic night for the Dodgers, who remained unbeaten in these playoffs and moved within two wins of their first World Series appearance since 1988. And Turner even did it on the 29th anniversary of Kirk Gibson’s pinch-hit, walk-off homer to beat Oakland in the opening game of the Dodgers’ last World Series victory. Game 3 in the best-of-seven series is Tuesday night at Wrigley Field in Chicago. Midseason acquisition Yu Darvish starts for the Dodgers against Kyle Hendricks.

Saints 52, Lions 38 – Saints’ big-play defense fuels wild 52-38 win over Lions
Running backs Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara combined for 237 yards from scrimmage, the Saints’ resurgent defense forced five turnovers and scored a franchise-record three times, and New Orleans took a 52-38 victory over the Detroit Lions on Sunday in a game full of crazy bounces and unusual plays. New Orleans, which has a winning record for the first time since its last playoff season in 2013, built a five-touchdown lead, only to wind up gutting out a remarkable bid by Detroit to pull off the greatest comeback in NFL history. Detroit scored four straight TDs, including one on a punt return by Jamal Agnew and another on A’Shawn Robinson’s close-range interception near the Saints goal line, in less than 15 minutes off the game clock to pull as close as 45-38 with 6:41 to go. But after Agnew muffed a punt and barely got it out of the end zone, Saints defensive end Cam Jordan scored on virtually the same type of play as Robinson when he got his hand on Matt Stafford’s pass from the end zone. Saints QB Drew Brees completed 21 for 31 passes for 186 yards and touchdowns, he was also intercepted twince.

Bears 27, Ravens 24 – OT – Bears beat Ravens 27-24 in OT
Connor Barth kicked a 40-yard field goal with 2:08 left in overtime, and the Chicago Bears used a 167-yard rushing effort by Jordan Howard to beat the Baltimore Ravens 27-24 on Sunday. The Bears (2-4) blew a 14-point lead in the second half before coming through in overtime behind Howard, whose 53-yard run put Chicago at the Baltimore 40. After rookie Mitchell Trubisky completed an 18-yard pass to Kendall Wright, Barth delivered the game winner. Making his first career start on the road, Trubisky directed a conservative game plan that leaned heavily on the run. The first-round draft pick completed 8 of 16 passes for 113 yards and a touchdown. Howard had 36 carries and the Bears gained 231 yards on 54 attempts.

Two field goals by Josh Grant sandwiched a 50-yard TD pass from Jon Wassink to D’Wayne Eskridge that got the Broncos within a point in the fourth quarter. Eskridge had seven catches for 93 yards. NASCAR – Keselowski wins at Talladega
Brad Keselowski gave his NASCAR championship hopes a big boost by winning Sunday at Talladega. Keselowski earned an automatic berth into the third round of the playoffs after entering the race ranked 10th among the 12 contenders. He passed Ryan Newman on the high side of the track to take the lead, then used a crossover move to hold off Newman and teammate Joey Logano to secure the win.  There were only 14 cars running at the conclusion, and only four were playoff drivers. The race was red-flagged three times for nearly 35 minutes. Newman finished second and was followed by Trevor Bayne, Logano and Aric Almirola, all non-playoff drivers.
