Justin Roney of St. Joseph High School Soccer is Berrien County’s Student Athlete of the Week for the week of October 12, 2014. Justin helped lead the Bears to the Division 2 District Championship. In wins over Three Rivers, Niles, and Mattawan, Justin made a total of 17 saves. Three of those saves were penalty kick shootout saves against second ranked Mattawan.
Justin is also a member of the St. Joe Track team and Key Club. In the classroom, he carries a 3.44 grade point average.
Justin is the son of Kevin and Monica Roney of St. Joe.
Other finalists for the week were Weston Dehaven of Watervliet Football, Dan Koziel of Bridgman Football, and Kaitlin Newton of St. Joseph Cross Country.
