Bears 21, Vikings 13 – Cutler leads struggling Bears over Vikings 21-13
Jay Cutler threw for 330 yards and three touchdowns, and the Chicago Bears won for just the second time in seven games, beating the Minnesota Vikings 21-13 on Sunday. Ryan Mundy intercepted Teddy Bridgewater’s 29-yard pass in the end zone in the closing minute, and the Bears hung on for the win after suffering two of the worst blowout losses in franchise history. Alshon Jeffery had 135 yards receiving and a touchdown catch, Brandon Marshall added 90 yards and two TD receptions, and Matt Forte ran for 117 yards. Jared Allen had a sack against his former team.

Cardinals 14, Lions 6 – Stanton, defense lead Cardinals past Lions 14-6
The Arizona Cardinals are 9-1 for the first time since 1948 after Drew Stanton threw touchdown passes to Michael Floyd on Arizona’s first two possessions in a 14-6 win over Detroit. The Cardinals became the first team to hold the high-octane Lions without a touchdown this season. The defense also toughened up following Stanton’s two interceptions, allowing the Cards to pick up their sixth straight win and keep their three-game lead in the NFC West. Detroit fell to 7-3 and into a virtual first-place tie in the NFC North.

NFL – DEA investigating NFL
Federal drug enforcement agents showed up unannounced Sunday to check at least three visiting NFL teams’ medical staffs as part of an investigation into former players’ claims that teams mishandled prescription drugs. A DEA spokesman said no arrests were made after the San Francisco 49ers’ Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ and Seattle Seahawks’ medical staffs were checked following their road games. The operation was still ongoing, and other teams may be checked later.

NHL – National Hockey League
Last Night
Montreal Canadiens 4, Detroit Red Wings 1
Chicago Blackhawks 6, Dallas Stars 2

Canadiens 4, Red Wings 1 – Gallagher leads Canadiens over Red Wings 4-1
Brendan Gallagher had a goal and an assist while Dustin Tokarski made 28 saves as the Montreal Canadiens beat the Detroit Red Wings 4-1 Sunday night. Two nights after dominating the Blackhawks in a 4-1 win, the Red Wings took too long to get untracked against another Original Six rival. Detroit only managed 10 shots in the first two periods despite four power plays. Montreal took a 1-0 lead at 3:20 of the second, shortly after killing a Red Wings penalty. Detroit botched a line change, allowing Brandon Prust to pick up a loose puck and beat Jimmy Howard with a wrist shot from the top of the faceoff circle. The Canadiens doubled their lead with a fluke goal at 8:36, as P.K. Subban’s slapper from the blue line hit the inside of Kyle Quincy’s left thigh and deflected over Howard’s shoulder.

Blackhawks 6, Stars 2 – Blackhawks rally in third period to beat Stars 6-2
Patrick Kane and Kris Versteeg each had a goal and two assists, and the Chicago Blackhawks rallied with four goals in the third period to defeat the Dallas Stars 6-2 on Sunday night. Kane connected from a sharp angle early in the third period to snap a 2-2 tie.Jonathan Toews, Versteeg, and Brandon Saad scored in a 2:55 span later in the period to put the game away. Defensemen Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook scored in the first period as Chicago won for the third time in four games. Dallas’ Curtis McKenzie recorded his first NHL goal and Shawn Horcoff also scored for the Stars, who have dropped two straight and won just two of their last 11 (2-7-2). Chicago’s Corey Crawford made 22 saves and Dallas’ Kari Lehtonen finished with 41 as Chicago fired 23 shots in the third.

NHL – Health deteriorating for Mr. Hockey
Gordie Howe’s family says the hockey Hall of Famer “has taken a turn for the worse” after suffering another stroke recently. Mark Howe says his father’s most recent stroke occurred about a week ago in Lubbock, where the 86-year-old former Detroit Red Wings star is staying with his daughter. He was at her home last month when an initial stroke caused some impairment. The younger Howe says chronic back pain, advanced stages of dementia and high blood pressure are taking a toll on his bedridden father.

NCAA Football – Michigan defender Frank Clark arrested in Ohio
Michigan defensive end Frank Clark is in legal trouble again, locked in an Ohio jail on a domestic violence charge. Online records show the 21-year-old Ypsilanti-area resident was being held without bond Sunday in the Erie County jail in Sandusky, Ohio. Perkins Township police arrested Clark on Saturday and said Sunday they expect to release more information soon. Coach Brady Hoke says he’s aware of the case but hasn’t yet spoken with Clark. He says Michigan “will respect the legal process.” Clark was arrested in 2012 for stealing a laptop computer from a dorm room. He was sentenced under a law that cleared the felony from his record after he completed probation. Clark has 42 tackles and 4 ½ sacks this season for Michigan, which hosts Maryland on Saturday.

Less than 48 hours after scoring a career-high 19 points against Binghamton, Zach Auguste bested that mark by scoring 20 on Sunday to help Notre Dame blow past Navy, 92-53 at Purcell Pavilion. The Irish (2-0) used a 10-3 run nine minutes into the second half to open up a comfortable 19-point lead after an Auguste dunk, and a 19-2 burst late in the game to turn it into a rout. Jerian Grant added 17 points and 10 assists for Notre Dame.

NASCAR – Harvick wins Homestead to claim 1st championship
Kevin Harvick has claimed his first career Sprint Cup championship with a win in the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Harvick used a risky call by crew chief Rodney Childers for four tires during the final pit stop to drive through the field and grab the win that capped his dream first season with Stewart-Haas Racing. The call dropped Harvick to 12th on a restart with 15 laps to go, but he was able to pick his way through traffic with the help of several debris cautions. Denny Hamlin did not pit and Ryan Newman took two tires to gain track position. Newman finished second on Sunday. Hamlin faded to seventh and Joey Logano was a distant 16th.

MLB – Tigers hoping familiar names can keep run going
It’s not often a general manager has to defend bringing back the runner-up in the MVP race, but Detroit’s Dave Dombrowski faced an obvious question after signing Victor Martinez to another four-year deal. Even though Martinez had perhaps his best season in 2014 at age 35, it’s fair to wonder how he’ll hold up as he approaches the end of his career. Dombrowski says there’s always some risk with a long-term contract, but Martinez is a very unusual hitter. The Tigers signed Martinez to a $68 million, four-year contract that said plenty about their commitment to keeping the AL Central champions largely intact.

Golf – Hoffman gets No. 3
Charley Hoffman rallied from a three-shot deficit with a 5-under 66 for a one-shot victory over Shawn Stefani in the OHL Classic in Mexico. The win is Hoffman’s third in his PGA career. He had gone 105 starts between his first and second victory, and this time went 108 starts until winning the final PGA Tour event of the calendar year.

Golf – Kim gets the win
Christina Kim won the Lorena Ochoa Invitational for her first LPGA Tour title in nine years, beating China’s Shanshan Feng in a playoff after blowing a five-stroke lead. Kim won with a par on the par-4 18th on the second extra hole. The 30-year-old American won for the first time since the Tournament of Champions in November 2005. She also won the 2004 Longs Drug Challenge.
